Saw her on an advertisement on the internet. Was condescending, and very much tried to appear as though she was caring

I started with working with Dr. Dudas about 8 months ago. She has been the only psychiatrist I've been able to find (I've been with several) who actually listens to my problems on medications and adjusts the meds accordingly. She also has a gift for listening with great compassion. She is on time, courteous, and just a caring, caring person. She really is a rare find, and I recommend her with no reservations.

Pros: Very clearly knows her medications, listens, responds

Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Myself and my husband see her. I feel that she is a rare find today that she talks and give medicine. However, there was a post by powerless that scared and shocked the both of us about her. They stated that they had a nervous breakdown, misdiagnosed and given a ton of pills. Ironically, my husband is currently having a break down and when he and I read this post and I was shocked and this also made him more depressed. Please if you read this post again can you specify more on this situation b/c this really freaked him out!! Thanks

I initially had success with treatment provided by Dr. Dudas and she communicated well with my therapist. Not being a wealthy person paying for the sessions (even with her sliding scale) and the expensive meds (brand name Lamictal and atypical antipsychotics) became a real problem for me and caused a lot of stress.

Ensure that you have a way to pay for the sessions and the pills long-term, there are programs offered by the pharma companies. I bought my Lamictal generic from Canada and Dr. Dudas was very helpful working with the Canadian pharmacy. Lamicatal is now generic in the US so probably not an issue.

We started me on atypical antipsychotics which initially worked wonders but then there were concerns about weight gain so we started switching them out. I don't know why we didn't just stay with ones that seemed to calm me down and see how it went but I ultimately ended up trying every kind of atypical on the market and finally just gave up on the whole thing because my brain was exhausted and I didn't have any money left.

If I were to do it again I would have moved more slowly through the med changes and figured out the money issue ahead of time. Also, if you have problems with drugs/alcohol like I did you should probably go to rehab first or get sober in AA/NA before starting up meds and thinking they're going to solve your cravings and compulsive behavior (thats where I was coming from and it didn't work!.) Dr. Dudas is a great doctor but she can't cure alcoholism or addiction, she can help support you, and meds can make things a little bit easier, but ultimately I don't think psychiatry can't solve that problem. I wish I had known that then and maybe then the treatment would have been more successful!!!

Dr. Dudas is amazing. She saved my husband's life this year and helped me cope through his severe depression. I have no idea where we would be without her.

Dr. Dudas is a knowledgeable, compassionate psychiatrist who has time and again helped me to gain insight into my behaviors. Well-versed in medication and therapy. Helped me to see my self-destructive thoughts and behaviors. Very highly recommended psychiatrist.

I came to Dr. Dudas with a heavy addiction to Oxycontin. I was depressed, hopeless, and did not think I could find a way to go on. With her compassion and genuine care, I have slowly built a new life and can not thank her enough. She not only prescribed Suboxone but closely followed up with me in individual therapy and helped me learn to cope with my anxieties. She is truly a wonderful psychiatrist and person; knows her medications well.
