.

I was delivering with the Vanderbilt Midwives and was having difficulties due to our son being face up (o.p as they call it in the medical field). I pushed for 3.5 hours and Dr. Beyer was the on-call doctor. He evaluated my son and me several times, and still let me continue with my birth plan of a vaginal delivery. When we saw that my pushing has really become fruitless (Tyler was stuck on my pubic bone), he gave me the choice of a C-Section or a forceps delivery. I really felt that had I been with another doctor, they would have had me do a C-Section long before, and because of the risks with forceps, probably would have only done a C-Section. At no point did Dr. Beyer pressure me into making any decisions that I was uncomfortable with and let me choose the care that we felt was best. Because of the forceps, I did encounter a very bad tear, but he repaired it very well and I have had no complications since then. Dr. Beyer even visited me in the hospital in the days following my delivery, which really made me feel valued and made me respect him all the more. I was not his patient during the entirety of my pregnancy, but he treated me as if he has been there all along. Though he delivered my first child because he was the on-call Dr, he will be my doctor the next time I deliver for sure. Thank you Dr. Beyer for being so caring and wonderful!
