For years, I had health issues. I felt no doctors EVER listened to what I had to say about how I was feeling. They all just assumed they could figure it out themselves! 8 years of tests, and I QUIT! I found homeopathic remedies to ease any symptom I suffered.

Finally, I needed a doctor. I was sick and concerned I had some chronic illness that needed addressing. Dr. Baruiz took the time to listen to everything I had to say. She took everything into consideration! I was very impressed by how thorough and genuine she is! Turns out, there was something in my apartment making me sick. I moved, and now, I feel great.

Now, Dr. Baruiz and I are working on my other issues I've been "self-medicating" for. I completely trust this woman. She has restored my faith in doctors with heart.

Dr. Baruiz is an excellent doctor. She is always very thorough and spends a lot of time talking with her patients. Most doctors try to rush you out the door the minute they're done with the exam. She stays to answer questions, offer advice, etc. Highly recommend.

Great General Practioner. Yea, the poster with the 1-star rating pointing out the fact that she got her degree from the Philippines means she's less of a Dr.? Your vitals and panel work probably would make an awesome poster on not how to take care of yourself.

Have been seeing Dr. Baruiz for over 4-years and have always appreciated her medical care and advice. Yes the waits can be long, BUT understand that she's not running an assembly line just to collect coin. Just like anyone else, I don't like waiting. At least she has a great stash of magazines to pass the time.

Keep up the good work doc. Maybe put in a cold water dispenser? :)

I've been seeing Dr. Baruiz for at least 7 years. She is an independent practice so there will be waits, but that is everywhere! She is very in depth and will take the time to listen to you. I've also never had a problem getting in the same day for a sick visit.

I think you are just upset that you have a thumbs down. She is been my doctor for the last 14 years. She at least gave her patients more than 5 minutes to do her diagnoses....

First I would like to make a comment on the previous review. Someone had said that he was seen for his pre hire physical. Well, I happen to know that the only physicals Dr. Baruiz does are for the Fire Department. When I went in for my fire department physical it was very thorough, and very professional. I had no problem passing my physical and getting the job. Sometimes the truth hurts and the best ones are picked for the job. The staff was great. The doctor was great. I have nothing bad to say about this office and would recommend her to anyone!

I've been going to Dr. Baruiz for ten years. She's a fantastic doctor. She takes the time with each patient and really listens. I've had several health problems, which she addressed promptly. She doesn't let things go, but she doesn't nag. If I have any complaints, it would be about the length of time I spend in the waiting room; however, they seem to have addressed that recently and my past few appointments have been on time. She's worth the wait though because I know I'm going to be listened to.

I have been a patient with Dr. Baruiz for over 10 years. The first thing I would like to comment on is the "horrible staff comments", the staff member that they are referring to is NO LONGER with the practice and has not been for over a year. The two girls that are there now are fabulous, one of them has been there for over 4 years and the other about a year and a half. When I call they greet me by name and can always satisfy my needs. If I need an appointment I get it that day, I may have to wait a bit, which is not abnormal for this office but it is definitely worth it for the treatment you receive. They are willing to work through their lunches and into the evening to take care of their patients, you don't find that often! The Dr. is fabulous, like I mentioned before and someone else below, you may have to wait a bit, but that time she is giving to that other patient, you will receive the same quality of time, this is just one reason why you will love her as your Doctor. I have referred many many people to Dr. Baruiz's office and they all feel the same way I do. Enjoy!

Pros: Doctor, Staff, Quality of Treatment

Cons: Wait time

I would recommend Dr. Baruiz to anyone who is tired of being with large practices & even longer waits!! Last spring, I suffered a very severe, sudden & unique illness that landed me in the hospital (a coma for a few days). After my parents frantically called doctors (even UNC & Duke, who have MONTHS wait for an intial appintment!!), my bf''s mom told us about Dr. Baruiz. She & her son love her as well & have been with her for years! The staff was very caring & spoke to my parents when I was unable. Dr, Baruiz herself even called a few times to check on me! Where do you find that now, especially in our area?? I got my flu shot last fall there & again, everyone was great! Phone calls are returned promptly, questions answered & yes, there is a wait, but that is going to be present wherever you go!! They also are good about people's money /insurance situations & definitely will help you on an individual basis! I could never thank Dr. Baruiz, Mandi & the other staff members for FINALLY finding true compassion!!!

Pros: level of personal care, attentiveness(both in person & by phone), affordablitiy

Cons: perhaps her knowledge of my specific lifelong illness (diabetes), bit hard to understand (language)

I've been a patient of Doctor Baruiz for more than 10 years. Before I speak about her, I'd like to respond to the criticism of the office staff that was previously given. There have been a number of assistants in this office through the years and I've never experienced anything but top notch professionalism. This is a small office with a LOT of loyal patients who simply would not have remained loyal if they were treated poorly. More importantly, when Dr. Baruiz is attending you, she treats you like you are the most important person on the planet. She is attentive, compassionate and thorough beyond compare. I learned many years ago that, because she takes so much time with each patient, you can expect to wait. Let me re-iterate, you will have to wait in the office to see her. She is generally always running behind schedule.... because she is giving someone the attention they need and deserve and refuses to rush them out the door like a cookie-cutter HMO (with which I have experience). I would and do recommend Dr. Baruiz and her staff to everyone. I have no plans to ever go anywhere else.

If you'd like to be treated by a doctor who received her degree from a "university" in the Philippines in 1978, look no further. (www.ucomparehealthcare.com)
I was sent to her for a pre-hire physical. Her physical consists of asking you questions for 30 minutes and then listening to strange places on your body with a stethoscope. All of this after waiting 2 hours past my appointment time to be seen.
Based on this "in depth" (yeah...right) examination, she gave my potential employer a thumbs down. Upon further investigation by my potential employer, her evaluation of me turned to "well, he was borderline". Borderline to do a job that I've already been doing for 15 years. I'd prefer to be seen by a veterinarian.

Hey there, first time posting on citysearch! athough I like dr baruiz i'm gonna have to agree with the first reviewer in that she has a really awful staff. i've been to quite a few doctor's office since i've lived in raleigh and i've never been treated this way by any other front desk staff before. if they could just say hi when you enter the door or at least let you know that their busy it would make a big difference. but they are really rude and do seem too lazy to have a job at a medical office. all that said, dr baruiz is still good. but she should get new staff. also, i wouldnt trust a review written by an actual employee at her office... that seems a bit sketchy to me.

Dr. Baruiz is one of the best doctors that I have met and worked for. I have been an employee at Dr. Baruiz's office for 3 years. I am not rude nor am I lazy. I take my patient's time and well-being into consideration. Although sometimes we run a little behind Dr. Baruiz takes her time with her patients and gives the next patient the same courtesy. We try our best to run our office as efficiently as possible, as it is a small office with one doctor. Our office staff is very friendly and patient with running a medical office with it's everyday trials.
So- if you are looking for a fantastic doctor who cares about your well-being, Dr. Baruiz is the one! She and her staff care about our patients greatly!

Dr. Baruiz is a good doctor but her front desk staff is the absolute the worst I have ever encountered- and from what I've heard from other patients, I am not the only one who feels this way. They are incredibly rude, extremely lazy, and obviously not fit to be working at a medical office. The best thing Dr. Baruiz could do for her business would be to fire her current front desk staff and employ people who are actually competent.

Here's a typical experience... When you enter the office, the front desk staff will not greet you or even AWKNOWLEDGE your presence most of the time, and seem to preoccupied talking on their cell phones than mustering up the energy to say "I'll be with you in a minute". Simply horrible. On one visit, I remember sharing a glance with another patient in the waiting room who was apparently sharing my exact thoughts, "this front desk staff is awful!".

A perfect example of this rudeness to patients is given by the next reviewer herself- who says she is an employee at Dr. Baruiz's office. Instead of reading my review and trying to learn from my critique and improve the way she deal with patients, this employee would rather scathe my comments and talk about what a wonderful employee she is!

This is my honest opinon of this practice. Dr. Baruiz is great, but her staff is the worst. That shouldn't prevent people from seeing her (I still do), just don't expect to be coddled- let alone greeted- by the staff. If her front desk staff is ever fired, you can expect my rating to go up significantly, but until then I have to stand by my rating.
