Waiting room - clean, plenty of seats, easy-access bathrooms, but no seats for larger or disabled people. They need some bench-style seating, and I have mentioned/requested that or some chairs without arms for about 4 years with no change in the seating. (I can't be the only person with this problem, so that bothers me that they don't listen in this regard.) I have to stand until I am called to go back to the dr, because I can't sit in their armed chairs. The metal arms on the chairs pinch nerves and cause me a lot of pain.

The actual medical assistants (weight, blood pressure, etc) have always been very friendly and kind. The front office staff are not always friendly, and sometimes a little surly. Dr. Elving-Dial herself is very nice to deal with and easy to talk to. Our entire family goes to her, and have for almost six years. She seems to listen most of the time, and does whatever she can within her limitations by Illini Medical Center guidelines to help her patients. We are also restricted by not being insured, so I think we'd receive a little higher level of care if we could afford other things like more lab work or other tests.

A short-coming: reaching her by phone is next to impossible, and her staff does sometimes totally fail to call back. It took almost six weeks to get an appt for a non-emergency issue, and even she seemed surprised when we told her about that. When calling for a question for my daughter (non-emergency), no one ever did call back, despite leaving messages three times in two weeks. As it was not life-threatening, we gave up trying. I would suspect that Dr. Elving never heard about our calls. She would do well to advise her staff/nurses that she wants to know about ALL calls, even if she doesn't need to act on them!

I'd like to see her get some form of internet communication going, since that would be a lot easier than playing phone tag. Overall, we like her so much that we put up with the shortcomings of Illini Med Center and the Jerseyville staff in order to see her. She is a very decent person, and I certainly wish there were more doctors like her.
