Dr, Skory is one of the most kind and compassinate men i have ever met, he is a great listener and while he is a little flirty, have never had a problem talking to him, he will listen and understands .. he delivered my son 8 years ago, and helped me thru it without any pain medication, I asked him not to Relent when i was begging for something , but wanted to do without an epidural, as had problems with that when i had my daughter..he stayed right by my side and talked me through it, you wont find a more compassinate Dr, that will do this for you..

I was Dr. Skory's patient for over 15 years when he left. I was older when I had my first son and he was there for me the whole time. Yoru cold call him any time and he was there for you. Yes he was complimentary but never weird. He did misdiagnosis with my second pregnancy and I lost my child but I stll went to him. He was more than a doctor he was a human. He aplogized to me for the mistake not too many doctors would even admit to make a mistake.
My son was scheduled to be born on Dr. Skory's birthday October 11th but he came on the 12th instead. I bought him a cake for his birthday and he thanked me. Everyone in his office were usually great except the one nurse who contributed to my misdiagnose. Roberta the np was fantastic she drove me to the hospital herself once during an asthma attack.
Dr. Skory was my the best doctor I have ever had in my life and I would trust him with anything. Yes, he made a mistake with me but he isn't God.
I was heartbroken when he left and even more heartbroken to read these accusations. Dr. Skory wherever you are now, I will always have positive things to say about you.

When I received the letter informing that Dr. Skory was retiring, I literally cried. This man really knows how to BE with a laboring woman. He trusts in nature and in birth. He caught two of my babies and I have also attended births as a doula for a few of his patients, so I've seen him from both sides, so to speak. I can't praise him enough. He's better than a midwife, and for me to say that means more than I can express. I trust him more than I've ever trusted any other doctor. I miss him.

Although I am the once in ever Dr. Skory's mishap in a tubal ligation, which did traumatize me, he was a great OB/GYN (besides his personal judgments - wrong or right). And no, he is not one to give out medications. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Pain management, especially for delivering babies. If you don't need it, don't take it! .Dr. Skory had no problem giving out 800mg Motrin, You don't need more than that! He was there for me at 2am when I couldn't move my head because of the anethesia and he did gtive me valium IV. He is not totally insensitive!

Eighteen years ago I delivered a 9.15 oz baby with shoulder dystocia. I remember him saying to the nurse, "how much time do I have left?" My baby would not move both arms, they just layed by his side. He was a vbac and my doctor was Dr. Skory.
When I brought my baby back to Bellevue Hospital to have his one shoulder xrayed...they found out that both were fractured. I was told to go to Dr. Skory's office which was right there at the hospital. I told him what happened to my child, all he said was, "I guess I didn't eat my wheaties!"
My pediatrician told me she would have to call the health department to report this because it is unusual to have both clavicles fracture at birth. She said she has never seen it in the 25 years she has been practicing.
So, my next stop with my child was to the orthopedic doctor on New Years Eve. He told me he has never seen 2 fractured clavicles from birth either. I was torn about how to feel now. I loved this doctor and always looked forward to my visits with him. He was very flirty at times and now that I am 50 years old, very inappropriate. Trust me!!
My son's shoulders healed but he was diagnosed at age two as developmentally delayed. My heart was broken. Beware of this man!!!!!!! My new doctor told me he was a threat to woman and children. All you woman who think he is the best...get another doctor fast!!!!!

I agree with the flirty and overly complimentary, bordering on creepy behavior. However, I have never had a doctor take such care to listen to me and make sure that all my questions were answered. I was induced and had an epidural (in response to those that said he never does them--perhaps not as frequently as other doctors).

I had some reservations, but a strong recommendation from my primary care physician (he delivered her baby) made me stick w/ Dr. Skory, and I am happy I did.

Dr. Skory left his practice for bigger and better things, late in 2008. Well apparently he could get away from New York. He has resurfaced to help those who need his expertise. He is located at Hometown Health in Schenectady. I can't wait till my appointment, soon after he left I found out I was pregnant and devastated that he would not be there to support my husband and I. I foundered until I found a new Dr. but they make me feel as if I should not be pregnant ( I should have taken better steps to prevent this...AS IF). I am only 37, with 4 healthy children, but have lupus ( had this with two of the others). I was on birth control but GOD had his own plans. I know Dr. Skory will be supportive and get us and the baby through the next few months till delivery. HURRAY HE IS BACK!!

I came to Dr. Skory after relocating to the area, while pregnant with my third child. I had 2 prior c-sections, and I was really hoping for a VBAC. Dr. Skory isn't afraid to do what Drs used to do before malpractice became the way it is today. Dr. Skory wouldn't induce as a practice because he wants to make an easier schedule for himself. Dr. Skory would deliver breech babies, twins, large babies, VBAC babies. My (physician) husband and I have great respect for how he practices.

Yes, he was very complimentary--and he was so, even in front of my husband. We were very comfortable with his bedside manner.

Thank you Dr. Skory. You will be missed.

Everyone will have their own story to tell. Whether it be a horror story or a sappy sweet story, each encounter will be unique. I will say this first and fore most Dr. Skory is human he is not God and I never recall in all the years he took care of me that he claimed to be God. Mistakes (misdiagnosis) happen with the most prestigious of doctors. As for pain management you MUST be your own advocate and ask the questions you want answered. If you knew you wanted pain meds that should have definitely been discussed and brought up, esp.if you felt so strongly about it . Millions of women all over the world deliver 10 lb babies and GUESS WHAT they are not offered an epidural. As for him being flirty and a little to complimentary -GET A GRIP-(maybe just maybe )he was giving a little confidence to women who are hormonal, feel fat (gaining20-100 lbs)etc. Dr. Skory complimented me many times but never did I think this was an act of misconduct or that he was crossing the line. Dr Skory is a Dr with integrity, vast knowledge, devotion, extremely passionate about women's health, and most importantly he HAS affected many women's life in a positive way. I will miss him and I remind everyone that we are NOT the ones with a medical degree or the one that has practiced for over twenty years so do not pass judgement until you have walked a day in Dr.Skorys shoes

Thank God this man is ending his practice, I can only hope that he never has contact with another woman again!!!! I went to him for 6 years and although a little too flirty, I trusted him!! However, while being pregnant with my first child--everything changed! I was exceptionally large, in pain, and past my due date and I repeatedly told him I cannot wait for the epideral, because I know this baby is going to be big. Never once week after week going there did he ever say that "he" believed in natural child birth. If I knew that I would have went running for the hills! He finally agreed to induce me, when I was able to get an epideral-- HE REFUSED!!! The nurses at Bellevue told me that I picked the only DR. in the area that doesn't believe in pain mgmt.!! I went on conscious from the pain, he was rushed in and offered a partial. I thought I was definetly going to die that night, my only main concern was my daughters dropping heart rate. He was in the room next door delivering another baby the same time, came into my room once to tell me to "Keep it down, you are wasting all your energy screaming!" Delivering a 10.3lb. baby with NO pain medication wasn't even the worst part of the experience---he stiched me up after I tore from one end to the other without numbing or giving me anything for pain!!!! Thank god my daughter arrived ok, however I fractured my tail bone, have nerve damage to my leg and bulges between 2 of my discs in my spine, which really limits my activities. I wish I had know ahead of time that DR.'s have the control over pain med.s , and I wish that I never met this man, I will forever be tramatized!! My new obgyn is not sure if I will be able to carry another child. I should have sued him, that's my main regret. I hope no one else can ever share this experience!!!!

Dr. Skory delivered two of my three children. The first time I thought he was a sweet guy, if maybe a little too complimentary towards me. The second time he asked me if I still loved my husband! Yikes!!! Scary!!!! Still even though it creeped me out I was far enough along I didn't wnat to switch doctors. After the birth of my second child he left placenta in me and misdiagnosed me three seperate times. He told me that everything was all in my head when I was getting shooting pains up my vagina. He said I should have a glass of wine. Well, I hemmoraged and lost half my blood that night. Thanks, scary! When that was done, I was still spiking fevers of 104.5 and he told me I was a PUZZLE PIECE and he didn't know what he should do... and asked ME my opinion! How would I know? I'm not the doctor remember? When this happened it was already one month post partum and I felt as if I was dying. Guess what? I WAS on deaths door! Thank God I switched doctors because it saved my life! I had blood clots throughout my system(Septic) and was ready to stroke or die!! Everyone at Albany Med couldn't believe I had been walking around taking care of a newborn and a two year old in this condition. I was at Albany Med for one week and had a visiting nurse to my house for an extra two weeks. All from Scary's negligence. This is the short version, many more scary details! I am not alone either, I have shared this story and have heard many more scary skory stories including DEATH. Remember, just cause the guy wears hawaiin shirts and tells you your beautiful...doesn't make him a good doctor! This all happened 8 years ago, and I am still traumatized by this man!

I have been a Patient of Dr. Skory for over 20 years. He delivered my son he will be 20 this month and three years later my daughter and - Good news is he is going to be here to deliver my last as well!! Thank goodness! We made the cut with last August delivery expected. I almost cried at the news. He treats everyone with the most respect no matter your age or fears. As I'm sure you can guess I was abit young when he first became my dr. I was just 21. and now a bit older with this child. So, I have seen all sides of how he treats his patients that are young and older giving birth. He is going to be truly missed by everyone in the area. I have followed him from is his days at Bellevue Hospital to his own office and have been treated the best everywhere. He has the best bed side manner I have ever seen as well. I really enjooy seeing him because he is always so calm this makes even a hard delivery a special one! I hope where ever he is going they take the time to look up him on the web and see what a great dr they have a chance of getting in their area.

I love Dr Skory. He and his staff are so wonderful. I have been his patient for 3 years now. He has seen me through two pregnancies. He was amazing he is always telling me to call if I need anything and he means it. We need more doctors like him. I do not know what I am going to do without him when he closes his practice in September.
First let me start with I will greatly miss Dr Skory. He was with me the saddest moment of my life. When my 2nd son was stillborn and he was with me on the happiest day of my life when my 3rd son made his safe arrival into this world. As for the women who called him Dr Scary and the like. I am sorry you had horrible things happen to you. From the first time I saw Dr Skory he was very clear that he would do everything in his power to help me naturally not just during my pregnancies but anytime I was ill in any way. was Dr Skory complimentary or as some of you said flirty yes. was it weird never. He made me feel good about myself at times when I felt awful. NO on to the big one If you had life threatening issues due to his care you should have reported him to the medical board. The hospitals and Dr's you saw after you saw him should have reported him also. Slander is not something that is taken lightly you can ruin a person with words and since you said you took no action after this malpractice my question can only be why? I would have shouted from the rooftops if someone put my child and my family at risk!

dr. skory saved a lot of agony for us when we had ous son. he is very caring and knows a lot about ob/gyn. best thing about dr. skory is that he can do and read the ultrasound himself and doesn't have to rely on the technicians - who do not know how to read complicated cases. we had great experience w/ dr. skory.

PS: dr. skory has delivered in india too and hence has lots of experience delivering smaller asian babies - ideal for asian couples having their pregnancies.

dr. skory saved a lot of agony for us when we had ous son. he is very caring and knows a lot about ob/gyn. best thing about dr. skory is that he can do and read the ultrasound himself and doesn't have to rely on the technicians - who do not know how to read complicated cases. we had great experience w/ dr. skory.

PS: dr. skory has delivered in india too and hence has lots of experience delivering smaller asian babies - ideal for asian couples having their pregnancies.

A nurse practioner, Riberta Traynor along with Dr. Skory make up this busy practice. They specialize in general practice and obgyn, which means that you can consider one doctor your primary care physician for women. They only see women, and are therefore able to have a more direct focus on women's health issues.

Their practice is professional, friendly and quick. They do not make you wait for very long. They know what they are doing, and are able to diagnose accurately.

PROS: Obgyn and General Practice in one
CONS: All their clients have to be women, no men
