My children have been with Dr. Beesley for 11 years. His care is wonderful. My son has never seen another Dr. and just knowing that he is going to see Dr. Beesley makes him better. He is reassuring and kind. It does take patience though. I have had to sit in the waiting room for an hour even with an appointment. It's OK to wait when it's just a check up but when my daughter was crying in pain and had a high fever it was unbelievably torturous to sit there for 45 minutes.

Dr. Beesley was my son's pediatrician for the first 7 years and until we moved out of the area. Dr. Beesley was very good with him. The largest problem that I was up against was that for a while I was treated like a stupid new mom. I became very angry when my son was hospitalized and could not get straight detailed answers about my son's condition. I wrote Dr. Beesley a letter and told him my frustration and anger. He took what I said to heart and took the time to apologize that he was not aware that it was happening. He made sure to keep me informed. It made a huge difference. Dr. Beesley is a wonderful man that has a great connection with kids and parents. Like with anyone he can get overwhelmed and needs to be made aware of what he is doing. He will listen but you as a parent need to do your part too. I miss Dr. Beesley and his care with my son. I highly recommend him for your pediatrician.

Both of my kids have been patients of Dr. Beesley for most of their lives, except for a short period when we lived out of the area. He is patient, takes whatever time is necessary to answer any and all questions, and has great rapport with the kids. He speaks directly to older kids about how they are feeling and what he is recommending, in addition to advising parents. My experience regarding breast feeding advice was very different than another poster on this site - he knew that my preference was to breast feed, and encouraged me as long as my kids were gaining weight and thriving. Once he knew that was my preference, he didn't recommend supplementing breast milk with anything else until one child was 7 months old, and the other at 5 months, because of her slow weight gain. I continued to breast feed both children until they were a year old, and had his support. Now that they are older, his personable style makes going to the Dr. easier - they really like him!

I chose to go see Dr. Beesley because of his convenient location to my residence, and my OB/GYN had recommended him. He is friendly and very experienced with infants and procedures like circumcisions. However, if you are looking for a doctor that emphasizes breastfeeding and naturalpathic treatments, I would look elsewhere. Dr. Beesley is pragmatic about breastfeeding and will not hesitate to recommend giving formula if you are having trouble breastfeeding. Also, I feel that a woman doctor who has breastfed would be better able to relate to the issues breastfeeding mothers encounter.

PROS: Many years of experience, friendly, experience with circumcisions
CONS: Does not believe in total breastfeeding
