Gordon L. Avery, MD

I decided to write this review to express my experience with Dr. Gordon Avery at Commonwealth Orthopedics. I have been to see Dr. Avery at his Arlington office on at least 3 other occasion, so when I recently injured my knee, I promptly called to make an appointment with Dr. Avery. It was over the Christmas holidays?? so the first available appointment was at the Tyson??s office not the Arlington office. Given the amount of pain, I went ahead and took the appointment in the Tyson??s office. I left with over an hour of time to get from Arlington to Tysons but traffic in the Tyson??s area was bottlenecked. I arrived 10 minutes late to my appointment and the staff made a fuss and went to Dr. Avery in front of me to ask him if he could see me. I thought Dr. Avery would make the ethical choice and accommodate seeing me as a professional in the service industry, but I was mistaken. My plea that traffic was terrible was no use. He promptly said that he did not have the time to see me because I was 10 minutes late and he had other commitments. If Dr. Avery had other commitments that would not allow him to accommodate me 10 minutes late then how much of his time did he allow for my appointment? I found Dr. Avery??s attitude ridiculous because on previous occasions I have waited over an hour to be seen by Dr. Avery in his waiting room and/or examining room and I have never made a fuss over the amount of my time that he wasted. If you are considering Dr. Gordon Avery or Commonwealth Orthopedics, I would strongly recommend that you continue looking elsewhere.
