If you want to have a woman gynecologist who treats you with respect and sensitivity, do not go to Dr. Ilene Fischer.

I was just into my 40s, and after a difficult patch, I was interested in dating again. My cycles were just becoming slightly irregular and we discussed that subject very reasonably. When I told Dr. Fischer that I wanted to speak to her about birth control, she literally let out a little laugh and said to me: ??Oh, forget it. That??s over.? When I started to explain about my family history of change-of-life babies, she interrupted me with ??Forget it, that horse has already left the barn?.

Her comments were positively jolting; it was a heartless thing to say to me. Even for women who don??t want to have children, as I did not, the eventual but definitive closing of that door marks the end of an era of a woman??s life. Even if there were no necessity at that time of my life for contraception, that is not the way to speak to anybody. That Dr. Fischer treated my inquiry so flippantly, like I had made an amusing comment was pretty awful.

I never imagined that a female gynecologist could ever be so callous and disrespectful. It was the sort of comment one would think a male doctor would tell a woman in the 1920s.

I went to Dr. Fischer for years and wasn't even really bothered by her horrible bedside manner until she started slamming her former colleagues (doctors that in her practice who I had seen before and had since left). I couldn't believe she was saying such negative things about them- how incompetent they were, how immature/young....I kept thinking, "Didn't you hire them!"
Then one day I went to her complaining of a UTI. When I complained that it actually felt like the time I had kidney stone, she disregarded what I said. She prescribed antibiotics for me and told me to start them and then she would call me with the analysis to tell me whether or not to continue them. After feeling really lousy- like almost hospitalized lousy, I went to my internist who told me I was allergic to the medication. When she called Dr. Fischer to find out the results of my urinalysis, Dr. F. said I was negative for UTI but she NEVER called me to tell me to stop taking the pills. So not only did I not have a UTI, I took medication unnecessarily and had a horrible interaction, never got necessary follow-up from the office and DID end up having a kidney stone! Needless to say, I never went back to her.

I love Dr Fischer. She was available in a middle of a snow storm and delivered my son. I never had a bad experience. I love the set up in the office. All female and make you feel very comfortable.I am sure that in every business there is going to be something that goes wrong from time to time, but personally I can't complain about her office.

Rude and useless stafff. They constantly screw up paperwork and appointments. You always have to wait to be seen at least over an hour. Doctors are rude, nasty and act like you are wasting their time. Recently they tried to charge me $100 for a visit they said I didnt cancel. Check other sites for reivews - they are famous for over charging people. Look elsewhere for medical care. This office seems to be more interested in money money money!

This all female practice is a great alternative for women seeking professional OB-Gyn care. After moving to New York, it is nice to know that such a great group of professional women exist to care for our reproductive health.
