I have been going to this practice for about 3 years Dr.Iudica and Dr. Ashby are GREAT Dr Jesteadts not so much his personality and bed side manner is awful. I have had to see him 3 times all 3 times i considered finding another practice. Now when I call I refuse to see him I will not give up Drs. like C. Iudica and Dr Ashby because of Dr. J. I also agree with other reviews the Front office staff stinks they don't do their jobs from scheduling appts. to check out it's a headache. I had problems getting my test results back and getting a straight answer out of any of them in the front is out of the question, but they will run back to the Drs. and clear their name before you can get to talk to the Drs.

Id have to say this is the only time ive ever really needed a doctor and this will be the last time.Basicly after receving misguided information and harmfull medication i was basicly called a lier to my face and I have no use for someone like that.Basicly its like a Plumber going to someones house to fix a pipe and charging them 100 dollars to tell them not to use water any more this is a joke.Any way I will no longer require their services ever thanks for nothing

I worked for this practice and I have to say the pay is not worth risking your exposure to the usual risks associated with health care and the newest doctor there is very rude and goes through nurses like yesterdays news. I am very dissapointed and expected more from and employer. Beware future employees.

Dr. Ashby is great! He is friendly, competent, and he actually listens -unlike many other doctors I've seen. However: as with many reviews on this site, I must agree that the staff this practice employs is, for the most part, atrocious. The front desk has been so curt and unfriendly that it is unreal. My wife and I practically play rock-paper-scissors to decide who's going to sign in upon arrival. Ashby's nurse is very friendly. But during our last visit, we noticed the nurse measuring our infant incorrectly with the tape -she began the measure from the end of the metal tab on the tape, not the beginning; thus cutting a half inch from his true height. It is considerably a petty mistake, but it left enough room for my imagination to wonder over the other possible, more grave mistakes she may make regularly. **But, if you want a kind, down-to-earth, and very competent physician, then Ashby is the one.**

i have to say i only see Dr.Ashby when my children go to the Dr. i see Dr Nio,"who is truly a great doctor" but Dr Ashby is also a very good doctor My son loves going to see him because he is always nice and treats you with respect, explains things in layman terms and my sons are both ADHD... and he gets them going every time we go in to see him , so i truly enjoy going to see him . however the front end well it has some major issues... rudeness is only the begging. but to see good doctors such as J.Ashby, D. Nio . there is one i don't care for and it is his bedside manners that are horrible ,DR Nio was out having a baby and i needed a refill on my medication that you cant just stop taking,"fast in" well he wrote me a script for a BOOK>>> how to exercise... that was what i paid for and felt horrible until i went to RMH to get my refill do to withdrawal's... so i don't care for him ... but J.Ashby is a great Dr. and will see your at RMH night or day i have seen him in there giving great care to his sick patients..

I worked for Harrisonburg Family Practice as a Front Desk Receptionist and quit the practice after only 1 year due to the fact that I felt the front office staff were considerably rude and constantly disrespectful to the patients. I found it appaling and got tired of being the mediator between the angry patients, due to the staff out front, and the Doctors who worked there at the time. I thought it was very improfessional and wouldn't treat ANYONE the way I experienced with their behavior. I would definately recommend the practice solely on the Doctors that work there, but they really need to do some sort of intervention/re-training of the personell in the office because THEY are the reason why patients continue to walk-out on them and "fire" the Doctors they see.

I've been going to these doctors for about a year now and I like the office; I have not experienced the poor office staff that others have and everyone is always friendly and helpful when I call or go in. I have even had prescriptions filled last minute and they called the pharmacy no problem. They are generally very quick but when I went in for a spur-of-the-moment appointment for potential strep throat, I was in the office more than an hour before I saw anyone. Thats the only time I've had that occur though. Overall, I'd recommend this office.

I got a very big bill for a very small exam, leaving me wondering if my insurance company would agree with the level of charges. I'm tempted to call for an audit.

First I would like to start out by stating that my experience with this office has been a good one. When I first started at this practice I found somethings weren't being done to what I thought was a timely manner, then I realized my attitude was rude and I was unpleasant. I did speak with the office manager and found out they have certain time frames in which to get things done, like RX refills, they have 72 hours and if you call before you run out of medicine they will call in your RX. If the doctor you typically see is not working that day they give it the on call doctor, so if your RX shows up at the pharmacy with another doctors name that you did not see it's because your doctor was not there. As far as the front staff taking messages and not giving to the doctors, they make copies of all their notes (with date/time on them) pull the patients chart and give to the nurses to give to the appropriate doctors. The nurses are responsible for calling in RX's and returning patients calls not the front office. So when they have scheduled patients to take care of and patients that are constantly calling in about "things not being done" doesn't give the nurses time to complete the things they need to do. As far as the pharmacies stating they have bad communication problems, there were several pharmacies I went to that have either not checked their voicemail or said the office never called it in when in fact I was standing with the nurse when she called it in, went to the pharmacy and they said the nurse never called. So it does go both ways. Don't always assume that the office didn't do it when it's the pharmacy that is not. (Remember treat people the way you want to be treated) Respect for respect. As for the doctors and staff they are a hard working group and do their best to meet all their patients needs. After all there will be times in every business that things don't always go as planned. If you have more than 50,000 people to deal with wouldn't you make a mistake or two? Harrisonburg Family Practice is highly recommended by me. When in doubt talk with the office manager.

My experience at Harrisonburg Family Practice is that the doctors are great, but the staff is horrible. I've left numerous messages regarding lab results or tests, and I've never been called back. It takes probably 4 or 5 times before actually speaking to a doctor or nurse. Half the time I doubt that the doctors even get the messages. I've decided to change doctors not because of bad care, but bad treatment by the staff.

I am very disappointed with my experience with this practice. Dr. K Iudica was my doctor who started me an important med and when I needed a refill she told me to call into the office. Well it took days of phone tag to get that done. It was problems with the front desk for not calling me back or to deliver messages. I eventually called the pharmacy to see if they had sent it in, I told the pharmacy about the problem I was having and they said that the office was known for bad communication. And when i got my med It had the wrong Iudica on it. The medicine had her husband's name on it. I not sure what happened there but I've never seen him as a patient. And I feel that the aides and most front desk personal are unprofessional and rude. They've made me very angry, I've felt neglected, I've had the aides talk to themselves about me in front of me like I was not there. I done with the place, I'm taking my business somewhere else. But there are a few good doctors there, some of the older doctors are way better. When you go to a doctors office you don't want to be mistreated. I want professionalism with a friendly heart. And i know it busy and chaotic I work in the field but there are things you owe to a client: honesty, keeping your word, doing things in a timely fashion, and most importantly respect.

Dr. Chestnut is a hottie. That's pretty much all I have to say, but it's required that I write a minimum of one hundred and fifty words to satisfy the website criteria. I suppose I could tell you that the office was tidy and hygienic...Or that the staff were spectacularly friendly...Or I could even tell you how easy it was to make an appointment...But that would take focus off of the real reason I'm writing this review, and that reason is simple. Dr. Chestnut is gorgeous; a beautiful piece of work and should be admired; if not for his generous line of work, then for his fine bone structure and for beautifying this beautiful world which is already, already so pretty.

If you are in the market for a doctor's for the whole family, look no further! Excellent patient care, friendly staff, inviting office. What I really like is that the doctor's LISTEN! They don't just come in and write you a prescription, they listen to your concerns and needs. There are doctor's for the young and old, even the kids! They except insurance, they are general practice, and conviently located. The only concern I have and its with the building not the doctors, you can't get out or in very easily but the doctor's are what's important!!
