8-10yrs of service..World class loser,he knew my parents&being a child then he was very verbal&physical abusive in private sessions,he kept all the abuse from what was going on at home a secret,I was a kid going thru alot of stuff&so he tramatized me more&made up conditions that were not present or true...And as well as my bestfriend still who was treated by him too which he brings up time to time of awful service,he talked my parents to throw a severe seizure child out on the streets cause they didnt fit in....And sent my besties to West Virginia State Hospital & made up a 1/2 insane form to do so,just because he's a homosexual&his grandma couldnt deal with it. He was there till 18&as an adult now living very successful in NYC.

This guy is willing to take 2 children away from a stable environment, where they are doing well in school and involved with the community, to hand them over to a cocaine addicted, pill-popping mother who can't even take care of her own money. The kids don't even call her "mom". The kids even told Dr. Ehrmann that they didn't want to live with her, yet he suggested that the kids could stay with her for the summer & they left the office crying. He is still willing to say she is capable of taking care of 2 kids when she can't even take care of herself.
We live in a different state, so Ehrmann said we could do our follow-up appointment through the phone. He didn't even call the first time, and called an hour late after that. We had another appointment scheduled, but the power went out and we were unable to answer the phone. When he called, he left a threatening voicemail. He has threatened us twice and has been very rude and very unprofessional. He had biased thoughts of us and made his judgement on our case before he even spoke to us or the kids.
If you find out he has been assigned to your case, get him off right away!

This so called Doctor never could have been so wrong. He went off of the MMIP 2 test. He is a joke. His statements in this hearing was totally wrong. You could see that he has certain Lawyers he knew well and he wasn't going to let them lose a case. My son was molested while in my ex's care. My ex was also arrested for battery and they got custody. As of date 8 years after the hearing, I have a protective order against my ex. The current spouse of my ex has bothered me all these years. Use someone else.

An absolute QUACK!!! He makes up facts to fit his surroundings. He has a predetermined opinion, then writes his report around it. He makes easy, lazy decsions without thinking. He is a joke. How he ever got a license shocks me! Totally incompetent, baffon. I could go on forever, but am limited in charachters. DO NOT SEE THIS MAN IF YOU CAN AVOID IT, UNLESS YOU WANT BIASED UNRELIABLE NON-FACTUAL DECISIONS!!!

Unfortunately, in every custody situation, there is a winner and a loser. I recognize that this immediately puts those who win in a 'happy column' and those who lose in an 'unhappy' column. Thus, when reading the above reviews, it is easy to see this situation and to feel that only the losers think he does a poor job. I am also a loser, in custody evaluation; however, I am not a typical 'sore loser'. I have a degree in Psychology as well as a Doctorate degree. I understand the issues in custody and recognize that there is no perfect science to it. However, I also recognize sequential bias as well as informational bias. Dr. Ehrmann does both.

The first visit is always with the mother. The children and father follow. The father is immediately confronted with what has been stated by the mother, and his points are already placed against what has been said before him. I spent approximately the first 45 min defending against her accusations and was only partially able to address the situations I felt important. He also interviews the children before he interviews the father, thereby discussing what they have stated or not stated before he is allowed to state his own information.

He puts significant weight upon certain issues but completely ignores others. Baseline evidence of repeated lies by one person requires countless emails/evidence to be produced as proof of lies. However, those 'statements' stand as a 'he said she said' statement, per Ehrmann otherwise. However, these are not treated as such in the final report.

The final report is not written in a factual manner with a follow-up conclusion. It is clear that it is written in a stilted manner towards his final choice. Beginning sentences such as "Ms. S states" vs "In Mr. X's opinion' are rampant throughout the piece, giving everything an air of condescension long before the final sentence is passed.

And yes, think of it as a sentence. The Indiana Laws essentially give the Custody Evaluator so much weight, that it is rare for anyone to be able to win without the evaluation going his/her way. So essentially, without fact or vetting, Ehrmann decides the issue based upon 'feel'. He admits to being unable to determine the 'he said she said' issues. He simply decides... but has little basis of fact with which to decide.

In my case, he took her statements as 'fact' rather than simply ask my son about them. When shown factual evidence to the contrary, he simply diminished the statement by her, but left it stand within the report. Within the report he entered a significant number of statements made by her and did not even enter the information which proved the contrary. He gave no weight to stability and went with her contention of choice. For instance, she had stated that my son would be going to a private school. Ehrmann put that in the report. When I gave him proof of denial of admittance, he neither mentioned the denial nor did he remove her contention about the school. Even though it was proven that she had known of the school issue long before she ever saw Ehrmann. When she enjoined with another woman about situations, and he tried to get in touch with her, she had changed her phone number and her lawyer stated she didn??t want to become involved. When he stated openly that he believed that they had ??colluded to sabotage you??, directly stating that to me in the office, he failed not only to put that in the report, but left the ??sabotage?? information in the report itself.

It turns out that he was in a hurry to get out of town, and had written much of the report before getting my final information. It was obvious that this was a very poorly rushed job. Both lawyers were perplexed by the inconsistencies as well as the expressed lack of rational. I would never go to him again, not because I lost, I could have handled losing, But because he is incompetent or made a conscious choice not to do the job adequately.

I would have given zero stars, if allowed. Dr. Ehrmann is absolutely clueless in his approach to custody evaluations. Despite his statement of 25% reliance on his MMPI personality test, he absolutely went by it with no facts to determine custody of two children. After sharing the results of the personality test with the other parent that showed elevated levels of anger, the other parent amazingly made another appointment with the two children to talk about how angry the other parent was. Huh? That's strange. Didn't talk about that until the test results came back. Could it be the other parent coerced the children to go along with this? This parent also, amazingly, got his family to write letters about how angry this parent was after the personality test results. How can you consider letters from family members as impartial and factual? Well, Dr. E did and referenced them in his report. The parent who had the elevated anger levels had letters of recommendation from teachers and others who were involved in the childrens' daily lives who weren't family and worked with children as a profession. At no time did Dr. E say he was concerned or wanted the "angry parent" evaluated or that they needed help. Never confronted the parent about anything. The results of the personality test were gone over briefly and that was it. You would think something that became so serious and the main point of why this parent lost custody, more would have been done. So without any professional evaluation and absolutely no evidence of anger issues, this "angry parent" lost custody of the children. The other parent is morbidly obese and oddly this parent's personality test came back absolutely normal. You tell me... how can you eat yourself to over 500 lbs. and be "absolutely normal". Nine of the true/false statements were left blank during this parents first time taking the test. These statements are not hard to understand. No reason for leaving them blank other than this parent didn't have the answers for those statements to create the profile he was trying to achieve. I question the validity of this parent's results but Dr. E? No problem. Custody was awarded to the parent that had actually done drugs with a minor, had admitted to having a drinking problem, had a protective order against him, was unemployed, facing foreclosure, had example after example of poor parenting such as letting a four year old sleep with a plastic shopping bag or drive a car solo at the age of nine. Or how about allowing the older child to physically harm the younger one to the point there were marks on his body. Marks that needed a medical professional to look at. All of this info was presented among many other examples and still, this parent was awarded custody by Dr. John C. Ehrmann. These children are now getting poor grades, absent from school constantly, and the younger child becoming a concern to faculty at the school. If you are seeking a custody evaluation, do not, Do Not, use this man. He will ruin your life and most importantly, the lives of your children.

This man is destructive. He makes conclusions then creates information to support his position, including distortion of provable facts, lies, contacting only one party's collaterals, grossly distorting psych test results, using only one party's information, misrepresenting and misquoting testimony. It is flagrant malpractice and in fact caused serious damage to my child. Reality means nothing to him. He has even told other psychologistS that he distorts information for personal gain (the opportunity to gain income through "therapy", and I know two people that have personally experienced him creating false documents. I hope that somehow, this man can be stopped.

I couldn't disagree more with the previous poster. Dr. Ehrmann cuts through the chafe in parental disputes and can figure things out better than the legal system. The earlier poster was likely on the wrong end of the spear. Doesn't refer to him? Is this person another Dr. or a client? Makes one wonder about the objectivity of the review.

My experience is that Dr. Ehrmann knows his stuff. If you intend to hoodwink a therapist, you'd better keep looking.

Check his rating out on Angies list, it??s an F.
I agree with the review on Angies list. I don??t even refer to him as Dr., he is that bad. Good luck with his illegible scrawls as notes and mixing up other peoples files inside your files, loosing key documents you have to keep him supplied with, lack of memory, or pointless and endless BUT BILLABLE work. He is happy to bill you forever and never do anything to move a situation along. He does not even feel the self responsibility to keep himself aware of basic facts. Keep away from him.
