I'm really shocked to see the previous review because my experience with Dr. McAndrew and her staff has been exceptionally positive. Almost as soon as I walk in I am taken back to an exam room and her staff knows me by name when I come into the office (and sometimes even when I call on the phone!). She probably didn't see many patients in the office because Dr. McAndrew and her staff manage the patient flow so well that the waiting area is not filled with people! I'm inclined to think that is more of a positive attribute than a negative.

I've been a patient of Dr. McAndrew's for probably 11 or 12 years at this point and basically grown up there. I was initially referred to her by the UNC School of Dentistry and drove from Virginia Beach/Williamsburg for 8 years or so before I (luckily) relocated to Richmond. Anytime I consider another job outside of the area I always contemplate the feasibility of returning to her for future care because I can't imagine the monumental task of finding someone else as skilled and compassionate as she is if I were to relocate.

She is incredibly well-connected to other professionals in the area and knows the best specialists to send her patients to (oral surgeons, periodontists). Dr. McAndrew has gone out of her way on numerous occasions when issues have arisen to see me on a weekend, take my call after hours and ensure that when I do have a problem that I am seen the same day to develop a plan to remedy the problem. She has always taken the time to explain to me what is going on, what needs to happen and what the options are. She routinely communicates with other providers to make the network of care seamless. There was even an instance where she met me over at another specialist's office to facilitate having a procedure done so that I wouldn't have to travel back and forth. Prosthodontics for Dr. McAndrew is a true art and my friends nor other dental professionals are aware of the scope of my restorative work unless I tell them or they see my xrays--it is that natural. This is really a field in which the outcome is remarkable when what is visible is truly unremarkable.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. McAndrew... which is good since our prosthodontist-patient relationship will likely continue until she retires!

★★☆☆☆

Hard to get an appointment, yet there's hardly any patients in-office. Does not accept any insurance and can be rude.
