I can't agree more with the person that wrote about the horrible office staff at Dr. Quinlivan's. These people are clueless! I have tried to be patient, each and every time they made a mistake. I think Dr. Quinlivan is okay, but I switched practices, because the office staff is so horrible!

Partial looks natural. Fitting needs to be readjusted which is not work done by Dr. Q...The outside source for dentures etc. is responsible for the appliance to fit comfortably. I will bring this to Dr. Q's attention on next visit. It's unfortunate that someone who was not happy with the office help had to write such a scathing item. My advice: Get over it., office help have their bad days too. (Though I've yet to see it)

I was the only patient to give Dr. Quinlivan 5 star for the quality of his work and his gentleness during procedures.

However, he told my wife this week not to come back because she was asking too many questions about billing mistakes.

I think it's time to explain things which happened during the last couple of years.

First of all our family won't allow dentist to take x-rays more often than once every two years. Most of the times the dentist complains that he cannot read the x-ray taken by his staff so what's the point. I also find it ridiculous that they insist on protecting our genitals against the well-known cumulative side effects of x-rays but they find it strange that we're concerned when they shoot straight in our brain. I reminded the staff several times that my brain was more important than my genitals, but what do I know? The staff even tried to intimidate us stating that they would tell our insurance that we refuse recommended care. They even tried to have us sign all kinds of disclosure and we did fight until they found the simple form where we mention we refuse x-rays for health concerns. X-Ray is not care, it's a useful but controversial diagnostic tool which (like many other medical devices) must be used with moderation and only when necessary because it accumulates damage in the system.
Dr. Quinlivan has always been annoyed by the fact that we question his professional opinion, but we always verbalized how much we appreciated his work and patience with us.
Last year I had him install another horse tooth (crown) and at the same time I asked him to remove all remaining mercury fillings in my mouth and replace them with safer resin based white filling.
Dr. Quinlivan laughed at me stating there was as much toxic metals in crowns as there is in amalgam (mercury filling). Nice.
Anyway he accepted to do it after confirming that he knows the safety procedures for removing mercury based filling by putting a rubber in the mouth to prevent mercury from flying in the mouth, and by putting proper vacuum in the mouth and fresh air in the nose to prevent toxic mercury vapors from inhalation during procedure.

See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igCxMYviSTA

We also agreed that since the 3 teeth to work on were together, he would prep the crown and do the two other teeth together to do as much as possible in the same session.
When time came, Dr. Quinlivan did the first tooth properly, but then forgot to do the two others. When I asked him to do the 2 others as agreed, he did it very quickly and did not take the necessary precautions as he did for the first one and did not install a rubber in my mouth. I ended up with amalgam flying all over my mouth; I swallowed some of it and got severe health complications for the following 9 months.

When explaining the problem later on to Dr. Quinlivan, he admitted that he did a professional mistake that could cost him his license. I never filed a complaint and did not even consider legal procedure against him... until now.

I forgot to mention that since the new horse tooth was too large (as usual) and would not fit in its proper place, the assistant started grinding my other teeth enamel with sandpaper in order to try to fit the new horse tooth. What the heck???.

Now after I did wink at his mistake and suffer awful health problems, he is rude with my wife and asks her not to come back because they constantly make billing mistake and my wife is asking questions?

Anyway, I'm glad there are so y dentists in the area who :

- Do not install mercury filling
- Do not require X-Ray
- Do not use fluoride products
- Accept most insurances

So we don't have to suffer organized medical mal practice anymore. People are now aware of medical controvercies. Arogant, misinformed and reckless health care specialist hiding behing FDA regulations and ignoring scientific fact and patients concerns about harmful practices will end up loosing business.

Although the dentist himself is a nice person, the staff made all of our appointments horrible! The receptionist had mis-scheduled one of our appointments to start with. Then she got insurance information messed up. Next visit 6 months later that receptionist had been replaced with an even dumber one who told us a procedure would be covered by our insurance. We found out after it was done that it was NOT covered and that we owed well over a thousand dollars to the dentist. We did not have the money so made small payments. Every single month we got written threats in the mail. Every month I called them to tell them we were making payments...and still the threats continued up until we owed $20. That last payment I sent the letter back with my response to the $20 or else threat. We will NEVER go back to that office again. There was another incident where I was having severe tooth pain and they couldn't get me in until 2 weeks later. I was ready to pull the tooth out myself but still they didn't budge on the appointment...perhaps because we still owed about $450 at that time???? Who knows? Good dentist but BAD PRACTICE!
