Based on my personal experience, which includes numerous consultations with many physicians of different disciplines, I rate Doctor Greger very highly. He is a very thorough and a caring professional. Contrary to what some patients may believe, prescription drugs are not always the answer and Doctor Greger knows that very well. I have been to see him for different ailments and on one occasion he prescribed no chemicals. Instead he advised I change my habits and practice certain exercises on a regular basis. Not happy with his diagnosis I consulted 2 other physicians (one of them a, highly regarded, rheumatologist) and to my chagrin like Dr. Greger they gave me no medication and like him they prescribed a series of exercises. I followed the plan originally prescribed by Doctor Greger and gradually I returned to normal. It seems to me that people need to understand that a knowledgeable physician who cares will not prescribe any chemicals to a patient unless it is truly necessary. Furthermore, rating a physician as good or bad based on whether or not he prescribes drugs to a patient is shows poor judgment!

I am twenty-three years old and Dr. Greger has been my physician since birth. He is a recognized sports medicine specialist and has been named one of Washingtonian's Top Doctors on multiple occasions. I understand the two negative reviews below, but these reviewers have falsely assumed the reasons behind their grievances.

While it's frustrating to be denied medication to relieve discomfort, Dr. Greger simply doesn't believe in giving patients medication they don't need; your body eventually becomes immune to antibiotics and other drugs, so limiting their use preserves their effectiveness.

Yes, Dr. Greger does tend to get patients in and out quickly. He doesn't intend to be impersonal, just efficient -- I mean, what more do you need than a diagnosis? He really does care; he just gives it to you straight. At every appointment, he asks me about school, sports, trips, and even met with me once -while I was perfectly healthy- to discuss Rome ((where he used to practice)) before I left to study abroad. Also, he has diagnosed underlying illnesses in my family members, friends, and my college roommates from out-of-state, when other doctors couldn't help them. Three times, his diagnosis has literally saved the life of someone I know.

Trust him; he is a phenomenal diagnostician and physician.

Dr. Greger has been my family doctor for over twenty five years. He has treated me for various illnesses and medical conditions at a frequency of 4-6 times per year. On each occasion, he has always accurately diagnosed my medical problem and recommended an appropriate treatment. On four separate occasions, he most likely saved my life. Also, when I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, he spent a lot of time to show me how to manage this medical condition by diet and exercise. I would have absolutely no reservations recommending this doctor to anyone. He is unquestionably one of the best diagnostic doctors.

I have found this doctor to be an amazing diagnostician. He has discovered underlying conditions, one of them life threatening, in several of my extended family members that specialists have missed. He isn't condescending and he doesn't have a superior attitude. He does not believe in giving you medications that you don't need, which is why my adult children, his patients since birth, still respond to traditional antibiotics when they have a serious illness. They adore him and wouldn't trade him for all the money in the world. We would rather pay for his services out of pocket than switch to a physician in our plan.

If you are looking for a doctor who doesn't have a clue to what is wrong with you, go to this doctor. He does not believe in medicine, so unless you are about to die he won't treat you.

This doctor seems to be the typical overworked impersonal physician. He gets you in and out quickly and while that maybe a good thing, I don't get the feeling that the patience necessary to answer all a patients questions are there. He is reluctant to prescribe meds which can be good, but he has missed problems with both myself and other people I know who has gone there. Also I am not sure how well he can deal with problems outside the ordinary.
Also, the way you receive your test results is through calling in to a voice mail box and you never really get a chance to ask questions about the results

PROS: efficient at moving people in and out (easy to make appointments)
CONS: too impersonal
