Firstly be wary of praising reviews when staff members are urged to fight poor reviews with fictional positive reviews. We wouldn't recommend "Dr." Tolan even as a last resort. Two years ago I was referred to Tolan because I was suffering from ear infections, Tolan examined me, applied some powdered medication to my ear and prescribed me another medication. Directly after the appointment I had a severe allergic reaction to the medication he applied, the pain was so severe and the nausea so bad that I wasn't able to stand, I would have rather lost my hearing than suffered through that pain. I made another appointment with Dr. Toland for this reaction. You can imagine that I was scared to try anything else.

Ever since I had this reaction to this medications I have had pain, infections, earaches, hearing issues, and boils under my ear about every few months. Finally I decided to get the courage to see another doctor. Well, I called Dr. Tolan's staff to get my records to find out the medications that he gave me and they could not access them at the front desk (2 yr lapse), they transfer me to records and they tell me that they cannot access my records and that they are gone!!!!! I tell her how important it is to find out because of the severity of the reaction and she gets irritated with me!!!! She didn't even care........my ear is probably messed up for life and an ear doctors staff is impatient with me?????? Wow.

Dr. Tolan was very kind and courteous. He took very good care of my husband and addressed all of our questions and concerns that we had. He took his time and made us feel very comfortable with him, there was absolutely no rush. The office staff could use a lot of work though. I did notice that there are about 5 other doctors also working in the same office, so i don't know how much authority he actually has over the staff. No matter the staff, i feel that a good doctor is always worth the wait time and the miles driven. We will definitely be seeing him again. Please don't let the poor ratings of the staff deter you from finding a great doctor, such as Dr. Tolan
Also when I called to make an appointment with Dr. Tolan, i was able to speak with the receptionist for the office immediately and was able to get an appointment within 48 days. It couldn't have been any easier

My husband and I had the misfortune of being referred to Dr. Tolan and his crew of incompetent staff after my husband found a tumor in his neck. we spent hours waiting long after our appointment time, we experienced a rude disrespectful office staff that wouldn't return your call (EVEN POST SURGERY) if it would actually save your life!!! When we first started we waited almost a month for a biopsy that should have taken 2 weeks to find if if my husband had CANCER! The results were inconclusive and surgery was scheduled for the parodidectomy. Dr. Tolan's assistant Sonia is a JOKE. She never called us back. She sent us to the hospital for the surgery prep, blood work, etc when we got there she had not scheduled it as she told us. The night before surgery was supposed to take place, and time was taken off of work, she STILL hadn't gotten back to us about what time the surgery would be! The night BEFORE! we finally had to go to the office and catch her on her way out for the day just to find out what time surgery was the NEXT DAY! all she had was excuses claiming she left a message at which point we pulled out the cell and showed her it was untrue. It was ridiculous. Post surgery my husband was not prescribed enough pain medication and I had to call to reorder, when I FINALLY got a call back they said they would notify the pharmacy and call me back, they never called back, I had to wander down to the pharmacy and ask if they had a prescription ( uncomfortable)... afterward my husband experienced incredible swelling at the incision site and we again waited hours at which point a rude red head at the front desk demanded payment, incredulous I informed her I refused to pay for the Dr.s mistake, if my husband had an infection I would not pay, she told me to take it up with the Dr. once we talked to Dr. Tolan we found out that all post op follow ups are free of charge, if I hadn't' suspected an infection I would have been conned out of almost $50 by his inept front desk staff thankfully there was no infection all was okay. we were grossly overcharged for the surgery costing much more than what we were quoted... we paid it, and they are still billing us for more! they wouldn't cooperate with our insurance or FMLA leave carrier costing time and worry. in the end Dr. Tolan is competent and knowledgeable, his incisions are perfection, and he is very skilled at his craft, but his staff is rude, ignorant, incompetent, and distressingly uninterested in their patients. We were facing down LYMPHATIC CANCER my husband is only 33, we couldn't even get a hold of a post op nurse to answer basic questions about bandages and showers we had to resort to Yahoo! cancer is terrifying.... combined with an office staff that couldn't find their rear ends with a map and a blood hound, and a waterfall of unanticipated bills after the fact, Dr. Tolan's crew took a terrifying situation, and made it a hellish nightmare. DON'T GO! it is IMPOSSIBLE to speak to a human being if you call, you'll never ever speak to a human being without wasting hours of your precious time sitting in the waiting room watching other angry patients storm out because they'd finally had enough. Poor Dr. Tolan is too talented for the level of trash he employs.
