As a surgeon, Dr. Linfield came highly recommended. I think she is a good surgeon, though her bedside manor could use some tweaking. The first time I met her, she was friendly, but day of surgery she hardly said boo!
As for other matters: On the day of my surgery, why on earth did I have to go all the way to her office in Amherst to have a huge 6" or 8" needle marker inserted in my breast before my surgery, and then drive allll the way across town to ECMC on the other side of the city with this huge needle sticking out of my breast?? Why wasn't this done at ECMC immediately before my surgery??? Ohhhh, I know why!! I knew right away when I saw the ADDITIONAL charge on the statement from my insurance company. There was a charge to my insurance company of over $500 for the needle marker inserted in HER OFFICE. If it was done in the hospital at the time of my surgery, there would not have been that additional $500 charge to my insurance company. Also, another time at her recommendation, I had a chest x-ray done in her office that I did not need--another charge to my insurance and co-pay that was not necessary.
I see a theme here ?? cleverly maximizing billing my insurance company for additional, redundant charges!!
No wonder the cost of health insurance is outrageous!!! This may be legal, but I am wondering if it is ethical to do this!!
