.

I went to Dr. Woofter because I had abdominal pain, bloating, significant weight gain, bleeding, and diarrhea/constipation. (My Dad had a colostomy at age 40, and later had colon-rectal cancer, so my family was quite concerned about my health issue.) I went to appointments over a period of several months. The usual gastrointestinal tests were done. Dr. Woofter stated that he did not detect anything unusual..he told me that at most I might have minor IBS and should go have a hemorrhoids removed by a local proctologist. (I felt like he did not believe my symptoms and took me as some kind of hypochondriac!) Well, as it turned out, shortly thereafter, I was diagnosed (by another doctor) as having ovarian cancer!!! By the time I was diagnosed, one tumor was the size of a small watermelon, while the other was the size of a large cantaloupe! The tumors were clearly palpible! Dr. Woofter obviously hadn't taken me seriously and never thought to refer me to a Gynecologist. I trusted him with my health and my life...and wasted valuable time. While he is a specialist, he should have known human anatomy and the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer well enough to make proper recommendations. About 10 months after my diagnosis, 3 surgical procedures, and 10 chemotherapy treatments later, I got up the courage to speak with him, so I called his office. At first his receptionist told me I'd have to set up an appt. When I explained the situation and added that I'd been advised to contact a malpractice lawyer, but would rather speak with Dr. Woofter instead, he called me back within 3 minutes! He was audibly shaken by my news and did apologize, but I certainly would not recommend this gastroenterologist to anyone!
