I unfortunately got a urinary tract infection over Christmas and because I was afraid it might not have resolved on its own, I made the mistake of going to Caldwell Community Hospital. I was seen by this doctor, and I use that term loosely as he is a D.O. not an M.D., peed in a cup, and it was confirmed that I had a urinary tract infection. At that point he brought out two sample pills for me to take - Cipro and Pyridium; I inquired about the side effects and was told "just gastrointestinal issues" for the former and that the latter would turn my urine orange. I skipped the latter because that sounded unhealthy and was not relevant to UTI, but took the former on good faith. When I vomitted up the pill I asked for a different prescription, especially after my mother told me that I was allergic to it; it was a simple thing to do but he would not do it just for spite. The chief nurse came down and after I threatened to sue the doctor he allowed me a second appointment, "free of charge", and I was then given a safer prescription which does not have the risk of irreversible tendon and nerve damage. When I got home I found out I had been charged 2 times for the same appointment - about 600 dollars. When I complained to the hospital about this, the doctor went in and charged me two more times bringing the total to 1,000. This doctor not only nearly killed me, but charged me 1,000 for a prescription. He is a dangerous, incompetent imbecile: it would be better for you to stay home and shoot yourself in the foot and throw 1,000 out the window than to see this charlatan.
