This doctor lacks the knowledge to discuss this condition. He is under informed and or not aware of the current research on it. He implied I knew little to nothing about this hard to treat condition. I've had the condition for 8 years and I am quite certain I know what I'm experiencing and what Angioedema is about in general. He ridiculed and question every opinion I had. His knowledge seems to only be based on what he's seen in the ER. That surely is a limited perspective.
He told me he couldn't help me. And, to quote, "you're screwed without insurance". Well gee doc, no kidding. You're recommending $4,000 worth of allergy tests I don't need anyway. When the disease is Angioedema, allergy tests rarely, if ever pinpoint the "trigger". He should know this. I went to request one blood test. The test was to determine if I lacked a certain protein in my blood which would cause this disease. He wouldn't authorized the blood test. This particular test is helpful in case the condition could have been triggered as a result of ace inhibitor blood pressure medication I was prescribed in 2003. . He'd rather I spend $4,000 on useless allergy tests. Even though, he agreed with me that the disease could have been caused by BP medication. I tried repeatedly to tell him the reactions never occur from a consistent trigger. They are random and lack rhyme or reason, which is completely normal and typical of Angioedema. He refused to listen to or accept anything I had to say. He needs to do his homework and get up to date on this frustrating disease rather than insult my intelligence. I've had 7 episodes in the last 3 months. I bet that's more cases than he's seen in the ER in all his years of practice.
This was a most disappointing and insulting office visit. I called the office staff after I returned home and stated how I felt and that I was obligated to rate this doctor.

A+ service. Dr. Airapetian is my doctor for about a year now. I went there beacause I had some back pain recently and was very wary about it.
Wait time - 25 min. (initial paperwork took its toll)
Doctor spend a good 30 min with me (shocking)
Follow up appointment was scheduled and I was surprised someone called me a day before to remind me (happened every time I have an appointment there).
Staff very polite. Front desk are easy going and not pushy.

Anyway... its good place to go if you have a medical need.
