I have NEVER been as angry towards a medical UNprofessional as I was today at the dentist Alan Kelman. First of all he moves me from the room I'm in to one with a broken chair because he "can't keep Mr. <insert Jewish name here> waiting". He murmurs that the man is stupid and claimed to be surprised because it 's one of "my people". Then after the X-rays he tells me my pain is coming from a broken tooth and my wisdom tooth needs to come out and that I need a cleaning. He says he needs to price it but I tell him I have the pay schedule with me. He looks at it and comes up with $215. I ask him where he came up with that because none of the fees add up to that and at first he ignores my question and walks out. He comes back and I ask again he says not all the fees are listed (extractions for impacted and erupted are both there so I don't believe him it's just that erupted only pays him $12 from me and he wants me to pay more). I tell him I have to see if I can do it financially because I have a lot of bills going out and my hubby's been out of work sick and so have I. He leaves. Then comes back again and I tell him I can't right now because of finances and tell him I'd still do the cleaning. He says he's going to have to reschedule the cleaning and I ask him why because that was what I scheduled the appointment for to begin with. He shrugs like he doesn't care and says that he's busy. I look at him like he has three heads as my temper rises and he says "What? You want pain medicine or something?" I just walk out because I legitimately am moved to act out of character to put it nicely. So he would have had time for two extractions but because he's not getting extra money from me, he can't even do the cleaning the appointment was for!!?? I am not a second class citizen because I am not "his people" nor because he can't get as much money from me as he wanted to. He is unprofessional and discriminatory. I hope the success of his practice, and most especially a lack thereof, soon reflects these facts. My insurance will be hearing of this in detail and I will formally file a complaint if they try to force me to wait the normal 30 days to see another doctor.
