I had a great experience at Dr. Alevizos office in Burnsville. From the moment I walked in with my children till the time we left the staff was amazing. You could really tell how much the staff loved working with children. I was really nervous bringing my little ones to the dentist. I was afraid of the unknown. The assistants and Dr. really helped me understand and know exactly what they were doing and exactly why my children needed to come back for further treatment. My children were very comfortable with Dr. Alevizos and like her alot. The front desk lady was also helpful. She really helped me understand my insurance copays and even talked to me about payment options. I have recommended Dr. Alevizos to many of my friends and family.

I had problems with this place on two fronts:-

1) Do not give right picture of how much you need to spend out of your pocket.
2) Not honest about the complexity of procedure.

This is the last place I am going for any dental needs. I took my kid for yearly dental visit - cleaning. He absolutely had no problems with his teeth. I made a point to tell them that do not do any extra service that my insurance do not cover, they took some extra x-rays which I ended up paying. Later when I called them up to check they simply said - Sorry, ladies in the back should have told you. Well they didn't and I ended by paying for those x-rays.

Apart from this, their doctor said we should get sealants done for by 6 yr old son. She described the procedure as simple as applying "nail polish". When we actually got it done, it was a horror for my kid as well as me. Despite giving nitrous oxide the procedure was a nightmare for a 6 yr old. The doctor doing it was in a such a hurry that she hardly gave any break in between. Expecting a kid to keep his mount open for more than an hour itself is too much. This was definitely my first and last visit to this place.

I had to chuckle after I read the last review because I must have had the same rude receptionist/assistant helping me. My child needed to have caps put on his teeth to which I was informed had to be done in a hospital because MN law requires children under 4 to do so. I was told that my portion that I would need to pay was $300 which needed to be paid before the procedure (I paid and was treated as if I couldn't afford to pay). They also told me the ONLY appointment they had available was for later that week and if I didn't take that appointment, they couldn't get him in for another 2 months and by that time he would have serious problems. I told them I needed to check with my work to confirm that it would work and I asked if it would be okay to call by 4pm that day-"no problem" was the answer. I called around 2pm that same day and was told that they gave my appoinment away. I was quite upset and then they managed to have time for me. After all was said and done (they had all of my insurance information), my portion wasn't $300 like they told me (and gave me a handout on) it was over $3000. It's too bad that this dentist keeps these incompetent assistants. I can't imagine how much money they cause her to lose each year. I haven't and won't return just because of them.

I brought my two children to see the doctor on August 17, 2009. As I was told, I arrived 10 minutes before my appointment time. Since this was my first time to change dentists for my children (due to our first time to change states), I especially asked what I needed to bring when making the appointment. The answer was ??just your insurance card.? Since I don't have an insurance card (although I have insurance), the lady said over the phone that ??bring the subscriber??s social security number.? I did that.
At Metro dentalcare pediatric clinic at Brunsville, one of the two receptionists (the one with longer hair) at the front desk gave me 8 pieces of paper to fill in my children??s information. My appointment time was 9am. At 9:20am, two hygienists approached to me and asked if I had done with the forms. I said I had finished one set. She suggested to start with the finished set and brought me to the front desk. Over there, the woman who gave me the forms asked me when was the previous time my children had their teeth examed and cleaned. I said probably it was in March. She said my insurance company might not cover the expense if it was not six months in between two dental cleanings. I thought she had a good intention when she told me that. But right after that, she started to give me all those accusing stares and blamed me not to bring the information. She said she was not responsible to find the information for me. I told her I could call the insurance company myself, but she said the other receptionist (the one with short blond hair) was calling. I was told that nobody answered the call, but the short hair receptionist received a fax from my insurance company showing that my children??s last cleaning was done in January. By then, it was 9:27am. The longer hair woman was silent for a few second and then she said because I didn??t get the information ready for them, they had to spend my children??s appointment time to look for the information, so, they had to reschedule my children to a different day. I pointed out that it only took them 5 to 6 minutes to get what they needed from the insurance company. So, she quickly found another way: she accused me for not finishing all the forms. I said there were too many forms to finish in 10 minutes. In addition, I was only approached at 9:20am, 20 minutes after my children??s appointment time. Before that, nobody ever paid any attention to me (let alone asking about the forms). Why all of a sudden, both of my children missed their appointment just because I only finished one set of the forms when their names were called?
Since there were other customers, one of the hygienists brought me inside the door toward all the treatment rooms. Over there, she said all other people could finish the forms in ten minutes and if I could not, I should have had the pink ones (the ones with double side) finished first. I said I was not told to do the pink ones first. At this time, the longer hair receptionist jumped out of her room and said loudly to me: I said to fill the pink forms both sides. In fact, she NEVER said ??if you cannot finish all the two sets in ten minutes, do the pink ones first.? What she said was ??do the pink forms both sides, the blue ones this side (pointing to one of the sides) and the other two forms.? Most importantly, I think the problem was although my children??s appointment was at 9am, their names were only called at 9:20am. 7 minutes later, the longer hair receptionist declared that we had missed our appointment. I think the fact probably was because they were behind the schedule, they (at least the longer hair receptionist) tried everything to shift the blame on me so that they could reschedule my children without taking any responsibility. I explained to the hygienist that my family would travel to Asia the coming Sunday. And, since I would only come back after two months and my husband had to work during the time their clinic was open, if my children didn??t get to see the doctor the same week, they had to wait until I came back. The hygienist went to the front desk. I heard her explaining my situation to the front desk. Later, she came back and asked me if I wanted to take two slots they still had open at 10:30 and 11:00 the same day. I said yes. The hygienist went back to the receptionists. A few minutes later, the short hair receptionist came to me and said one of the slots had just been given to an urgent patient. So, there was no time left the same day for my children. There was also no time in the same week. I had no choice and left the clinic.
I felt that at the end, the receptionists (maybe just the one with longer hair) simply wanted to throw me out of the clinic. It seems to me that they do not care about losing one or two customers, but I have to point it out that the longer hair receptionist is extremely rude and irresponsible. It is indeed a shame for the clinic to have her at the front desk!
