I took my son to this dentist in May when I was told he had to cavities, I was upset thinking there is no way my two year old has cavities when I brush and floss his teeth daily. But I trusted their opinion. I brought my son in to have the first one filled because we were told they would have to be done in seperate appointments. The nurse administered medicine in applesauce which my son does not eat and I told her he didn't like it. She said this is the way it has to be done and basically sat on my child forcing the applesauce with medicine to him. I asked to see an xray before any drills were put in my son's mouth, they didn't show me the xray until after the procedure was already done and when I asked where the cavity was they couldn't show me. I was livid especially after my son told me the lady yelled at him. Needless to say I didn't take him to have the second one filled. Fast forward to December when I take him to his new dentist for a cleaning expecting to hear he had one cavity. She said he has NO cavities and his teeth are really healthy. I was shocked. Dr Ashcraft is a crook. If she did this to my son who was two at the time I can only imagine the number of people who are falling for her lies. After asking her about the issure she told me she couldn't go over my sons chart with me and that "Every provider differs in thier treatment plan, philosophies, and methods" I can't believe a health care professional will do unnecessary treatment to young children just to make more money.

I went to the doctor for an appointment for my 1year old. After an hour and a half wait (with no explanation or apology from the staff), we went back and were seen for all of 10 minutes. When I asked about the long wait, Dr. Ashcraft proceeded to lecture me on the way it works in her office. She stated that she wouldn't discuss it again with me and if I did not like it, I could find another provider.

Well doc, I will follow your advice and find another provider. That was the worst customer service that I have ever experienced, and I will not be returning.

DO NOT USE THIS DENTIST!!! My daughter had fusions on her front teeth and I was told there were cavities in between and that we had to pull her front baby teeth to save the permanent ones. took her to another dentist and after his review of the records found out it was medically UNNECESSARY for her teeth to be pulled AFTER the procedure was already done. They also charged me $600 for a flipper for her to wear while her teeth were out saying it would not be covered under my ins. I later found out it WOULD have been covered at 100% if it had been submitted as a space maintainer and not a cosmetic flipper. These ppl terrorized my daughter by immediately assuming she needed to be pappoosed instead of talking to her and trying to keep her calm. And of course they charge you CASH ONLY for restraining them. They also DO NOT allow parents to be by their childrens side which is frightening for some children. I was referred here by Small Smiles and after recent news stories, it all makes sense now. I have since found an awesome dentist with truth, honesty and a big heart!!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE! Brought my two year old son in to see about having an obvious cavity in his lower molar filled. Dr Ashcraft came in and told me he would need extensive work done in the hospital because he had NINE cavities and she didn't know if she could save his teeth because the decay was to the nerve. I was completely distraught. Set up an appointment to decide pre-op date for surgery and to discuss costs. The next day something told me to get a second opinion before putting my child through all of this. They scheduled me the very next day! (I failed to mention dr ashcrafts office charged me 85 dollars for my visit, the second opinion doctor told me there would be no charge that insurance covered it!) I explained to the dentist that Ashcraft had told me
Me son had NINE cavities, needed crowns on both molars, and had decay to the nerve on all front teeth. This dentist told me my son had ONLY ONE cavity that wasn't severe enough to mess with as young as he is we would just watch it till it absolutely had to be filled. Needless to say, I did not attend the Appointment for pre-op set up. Please tell everyone you know about what this dentist is doing. There are no telling how many innocent children are going through pain, suffering, and even losing teeth for NO REASON! I will be calling the better business bureau because I simply can't understand how someone could do this to children!

This office is horrid. Took son in for a cleaning and tooth removal in March. We had a 500.00 bill, our part was 140.00 which I paid insurance covered the rest. I get a notice today that our FSA acct. was needing a more detailed receipt or our account would be suspended in 2 days. I called Dr. Ashcraft's office and asked for a copy of the receipt and was told that Dr. Ashcraft had to okay the copy and that I would hear back late this afternoon. I explained again that I needed this receipt today and that since our children are special needs I did not need this FSA acct. to be suspended. Wanda told me she would call me back. The next call was telling me we had an outstanding balance from the March visit and it had been turned over to collections. I called the collections agency they had no record. I called Dr. A's office back asking if I could go in and pay the bill and was told no that I had to wait for collections to send me a bill which could take 7-10 bus. days. In tears I call collections back and after a very lengthy phone call they found the bill from Dr. A's and allowed me to come in and pay the balance + 24.20 for their services. I promptly took the receipt to Dr. Ashcraft's office...where the only thing they had to say is "Will your children be back to see Dr. Ashcraft?" no apology for the run around and not contacting me about the balance, no we value your patronage. Nothing. When I told her no it was just too much, she turns to the lady sitting next to her and asks "What do I do with these files, they are not returning." Unbelievable. Every other Dr. Dentist or therapist we deal with would have helped us out.

My daughter loved this dentist! She is very caring, attentive, and explained everything in a way my daughter, as well as myself, could understand. The staff is very patient and well trained to reassure patients who have dental anxiety. My daughter was scared at first, but during and after the appointment she felt very at ease. She can't wait to come back for her routine cleaning. They also really stressed good oral hygiene and the explained the consequences and my daughter took great interest. Thumbs up!

My son had been attending Dr Ashcraft since his first tooth came in, he is now 4. I was told at his most recent dental appointment just a month ago that he had 2 cavities, which per the xray were identical on each side of his mouth. I was skeptical because they were supposedly between the teeth and looked exactly the same, well the nurse told me that I would have to pay $200+ per tooth to have the cavities filled and that if I cancelled the appointment I would be charged to cancel. Well just as other parents have stated you don't get to go back with your child, I did up until this year when they took him back and I had to wait in the waiting room. I was skeptical because for one how could I even say that they xrayed my son or did anything at all in that short amount of time. Well needless to say I called my own dentist which is also in that area and made an appointment for my son. I called back to Dr Ashcraft immediately on the day after his appointment with her and the cavities were found and cancelled the filling of his cavities. Today my son went to my own dentist, they took their own xrays and found no cavities but thin enamel. So I will not be recommending my friends to Dr Ashcraft at all but to Dr. Newell also in North Augusta, I have also informed other current patients of Dr Ashcraft of the shady business that's being held. No wonder they have so much paint on the walls and all that other stuff to make it feel kid friendly- they use the parent's money when it's not even needed on the child.

I took both my sons to Dr. Ashcraft. I was told my oldest son had 4 cavities and my younger son had two cavities. During the procedures to get cavities filled I had to pay $35 for a papoose restraint and was told it was for safety. I went ahead and got 2 fillings in my oldest sons teeth and 1 and the younger sons. Stupidly I made an appointment for the other 2 to be filled. I called to cancel the appointment and was told I have to come because it is too hard to reschedule. Thankfully I didn't. I was already uneasy about the papoose and in disbelief they wouldn't let me reschedule. i took my boys to a different dentist and he told me my oldest son didn't have cavities! Now I feel horrible cause he may not have had any at all, it seems like an assembly line in this office and money is the #1 priority not my children's well being. Did I mention I never saw the dentist, do not take your children here!

It was not the just the overcrowded parking lot, the overcrowded waiting room in which you waited for sometimes hours for a scheduled appointment, or the rudeness of the office staff that caused me to never want to return to this establishment, but the actions that I experienced by the dentist that deemed her truly unprofessional in my eyes that caused me never to desire to return to this office again. I felt that my money was considered to be more important to this office than the welfare of my child. Parents are not allowed in the back with their children. One has no idea what is truly transpiring in regards to their child's services or in regard to how their child is being serviced. I have never had a medical professional deny me the right to be with my child for a checkup or general visit. Then there is a $35.00 charge for a blanket that they put on your child as a restraint that they refer to as behavior modification. They use the same restraints (blanket) repeatedly, yet continue this charge. Also, I was talked into very expensive, but unnecessary procedures. This place was a nightmare experience for both me and my child

I have 3 Children that ARE patients of Dr Ashcraft. We Choose her as our Children's Dentist For many reasons. She has a great persona with the children, Her professionalism with her patients, Her Passion for the well being of her patients as well as the parents. Every time I have been to an appointment, every question was answered. Dr Ashcraft took the time to explain everything to me, to visual show the X-Rays to me regarding my son's cavities in between his teeth. My daughter's both had to have work done for cavities. It was my responsibility as their parent to brush and floss their teeth. So When my child was put into A SECURITY BLANKET, I had no one to blame but myself for this. I understood why the blanket need to be used. I think very highly of Dr. Deborah Ashcraft and her staff. I'm very happy to say when my 3 children came for their 6 month cleaning NONE had cavities. WAY TO GO DR> ASHCRAFT. THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO. I think maybe the problem with these other parents -are they want to blame somebody else for what they should have been doing for their children

My daughter began seeing Dr. Ashcraft in the beginning of '06. At first the office seems like it is very professional. I was told my daughter had cavities and that she would have to be bound in an blanket for "her safety" during the procedure. I was told this would only have to be done the first few times until she gets familiar with the process. I was very skeptical. I also was not able to be with her at all. I let this happen through 2 filling procedures. After both times they raved about how mature she handled the procedure. At the third cleaning I was informed that she had 2 more cavities and she would have to be bound again. I requested that she not have to be bound and Dr. Ashcraft walks in the room, mid conversation, and says "what's wrong?" I told her I did not see why my daughter had to go through that again and she says again... it is for her safety. I did not think it was fair and Dr. Ashcraft got very defensive and came back at me with an attitude. I told her, "you do not have to be rude", and she says back to me, "I'm not being rude, you're being rude." I got my child and walked out of the office feeling stunned at her lack of professionalism. Needless to say that was my last visit.

I was not surprised when I found out my son had 4 cavities, however, I was shocked to hear the type of treatment he would recieve. He would be bound to the bed by a blanket(which I would have to pay $35 for) with the edges stuffed under the bed! I was told the procedure would take 3 1/2 hours and I could not see him until it was over. Obviously we didnt keep the appointment, and I found another dentist for a second opinion. Come to find out, he only had 2 cavities and the same procedure (without the blanket) would only take 45 minutes.
