I would NOT recommend Mary Ann Bafile.

I was told how much the first visit would be on the phone, when making the appointment. I asked very specific questions about this. At the end of the first visit, the receptionist came in the exam room (Dr. Bafile was not present) and she told me the visit was almost three times the cost I was quoted on the phone! I told her how much I was quoted but she continued to tell me the cost is what it is and she would not adjust it. She referred me to Mary Ann Bafile, who also didn't care that I was quoted the lower price and insisted I pay the higher amount. I think customer service means a lot, especially in dentistry - as they are dealing closely with the patient.

Issue:
All of Mary Ann Bafile's fees are much higher than others in the industry AND she is not affiliated with any insurance company. Each insurance company a dentist signs up with costs them money; most sign up with at least one. If your insurance company (example, Atena) is the same as the dentist is affiliated with then you get 100% of the insurance company's list price of the cost back. If your insurance company is not the same as the dentist's, then you only get a percentage of the cost back (usually 20-30% less). Dentists sign up with at least one insurance company as a goodwill gesture for the patients. Not signing up with any insurance company say's a lot about the dentist, i.e., they care more about $$$ than the patient. My experience with this dentist attests to that.

There's more:
I have more than one insurance (one with my employer and one with my wife's); all insurance information was recorded at this office. This office only submitted my costs to one insurance company. Obviously it's more work to submit to two, so they didn't bother. Even though this has been brought to their attention, I have yet to see them submit the claim to the second insurance company.

More:
In order to make a thorough diagnosis of my teeth Dr. Bafile needed some records / X-rays from my dentist. Dr. Bafile's office would not get these sent over, insisting that I drive to my dentist to pick up the records / X-rays and drive them over to her office. Again, this is more 'work' for them, but something every other specialist has done for me prior to this situation. I have never been asked to do that. Another issue with customer service and another sign they are more interested in $$$ than the patient.

And More:
Dr. Bafile does not do any reconstructive work, she doesn't pull teeth, she doesn't do any implant work, no root canals, no braces, etc. Bottom line, she looks at your mouth / teeth and tells your dentist / specialist what to do. Why pay for very high office visit fees, expensive X-rays, expensive impressions / molds, etc. when you can go directly to a specialist (who's going to do the work anyway) and have them exam / diagnose your case. Even the specialist's fees are much less than what Dr. Bafile charges...in every single category!

Finally:
The receptionist was pleasant, however, I found Dr. Bafile to be more aloof. While she was detailed & knowledgeable, I found her personable demeanor was 'forced' and she was more interested in getting details of my case for financial gain rather than anything else. I understand they are in business to make money but a more genuine caring nature would be appreciated. If you take the time to notice this aspect of the exam (& any other dealings you have w/Dr. Bafile) you too will see this quality in her.

Synopsis:
Do NOT bother going to Dr. Bafile. Pass by the very expensive office visit / fees and go directly to the specialist your dentist recommends. If your dentist does mention your seeing Dr. Bafile, ask him / her for a specialists contact information instead. Chances are your dentist personally knows Dr. Bafile, thus, their recommending Dr. Bafile. There just can't be any other reason they would steer you Dr. Bafile's way.

Thank you for your time and I hope this information saves you time & money.
