I went to see this Dr many years ago and he was very nice and was trying to help me with terrible stomach attacks. My symptoms continued to progress and so he referred me to a surgeon to have my gallbladder removed and I did that. Then after it was removed I started having pancreatitis attacks and it was like the gallbladder attacks never stopped. He then started to change a little bit each time and didn't have an answer as to why I was still having the attacks. He said it could be phantom gallbladder attacks, then he said he believes I have sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. I researched that and it listed all the symptoms I was having and I was having to go to the ER almost every 2-3 months. My liver enzymes were only slightly elevated so they said it wasn't pancreatitis and that it was most likely the Oddi dysfunction. The attacks kept coming and I went back to him every time and he would hem and haw and say well it's not really bad enough to do the surgery to fix it. He then all of a sudden after seeing him for several years he started saying it was all due to my prescription medications and that I needed to get off the damn drugs and all my problems would magically go away. He even had some samples of a medicine that would help with Oddi dysfunction and he had them out and was just about to hand them to me when he suddenly said No I don't think I'm going to give these to you... you need to get off all of your prescription medications!!! I have other medical issues that require me to be on medications that cannot be controlled without them. I have Narcolepsy and I'm Bi-Polar so I cannot just go off my meds whenever I feel like it that just is not an option. I have gone back a few times thinking that he would move past that idea to help me get my symptoms/conditions resolved but EVERY time I go in there the ONLY thing he says is get off the meds!! I was on the same meds from when I first went to see him and he didn't say anything back then but once he couldn't figure out what the issue was he just changed his tune and said it's all due to the meds. I didn't know this before all of this happened but he did the same thing to my father many years ago and wouldn't do anything to help him either...he just kept demanding to get off the medications. So basically if you are in perfect health then maybe Dr, Wiss might be able to help you but if you are on any ongoing medications then I would NOT recommend this Dr.!!
