We sought Dr. Farber out after hearing and reading about his experience and training in Prostate Cancer. I started goin to him for post surgical treatment of advanced prostate cancer with masticates to the bladder, seminal vesicles, urethra, nerve bundles, and vas deferens. Dr. Farber reviewed my history and took over my care from another Springfield Urologist who basically told me to go home and die. That was nearly 11 years ago.

Dr. Farber was thorough, kind, informative, and extremely knowledgeable with over 35 years of experience. Not only was he responsible for bringing me through this critical disease; he was very kind and concerned as to the mental and physical stresses that might add to my overall health condition.

Dr. Farber was also very informative and straight forward with my wife as to my condition; how the treatment would make me feel, and was helpful in making her understand the disease and how it affected me and what she could expect during the process. He provided her with a book that was very helpful, and always included her in our conversations as to my condition and on-going care.

Dr. Farber has continued to track my disease and recurrence of the cancer. He makes personal calls to inform us as to test results and any expectations he has. Dr. Farber is not just our physician who has brought us through a very difficult time; he has become a personal friend with whom I would trust my care for any condition.

I waited an hour and 45 minutes to see him. When he came in, he asked me a question and then interrupted me as I began to answer. He sent me away for tests without letting me fully explain my symptoms. Jury is still out on his ability, but friendliness/understanding seems lacking. He told me my local doctor had treated me incorrectly, and would benefit from a rotation in urology. That may be true, but seems unprofessional. He may be a fantastic specialist. This was just my first impression.
