The best GP in town hands down. I was relieved when I finally found a knowledgeable, friendly GP...things were great until I changed jobs. I lost my GP in the exchange! Dr. Chung did not take my new health carrier and I was lost in a sea of idiot , literally, idiot, GP's for five years. I even paid out of pocket to see when fully insured!!!! When my company announced they were changing carrieres THE VERY FIRST THING I DID was call CityCare to ensure they participate. I kid you not that I jumped for joy when they said yes. I do not get sick often, so I think this makes me really demand a good doctor. I want to go in, be treated like a human, be spoken to like an intelligent adult, and be give prompt and appropriate treatment. I get all this and more when I see Dr. Chung. He always reminds me to take care of myself, to look out certain red flags or negative behaviors ( hi stress for me) which can get me into trouble later, and he is always able to refer me to a good specialist when needed. I really appreciate the quality of care I get from him and from his practice. Everyone I have referred to Dr. Chung still sees him. I once referred someone to him who was already his patient, I was insisting that my Dr. was better than hers and that she should try a visit!! LOL! Thanks Dr. Chung & CityCare!

Ok- I'll make this quick and to the point.

Dr. Chung as a Dr.- 5 stars!!
Dr. Chung as businessman: 0
Office Employees: 0's by themselves, with Dr. Chung instruction on billing policy, and instruction on customer service -3

Never in my life have I seen such a disparity between the quality of medical attention and the quality of staff supporting them. Dr. Chung is as good as they come, but let's be honest, he's not the only good doctor in NYC. There everywhere! You can recieve quality medical attention without the nonsense of a staff that is TRAINED (albeit HORRIBLY) to overcharge and double bill you at every turn. I reluctantly have been to Dr. Chung 5 or 6 times because of his skill (no longer after today), so I've identified trends........To start, his staff is RUDE at all times. They speak broken English at best, so when you dictate information to them correctly over the phone, and arrive later to be told YOU gave the wrong information, it is insulting to your intelligence, and a potential "break the bank" moment considering they can bill you and send you to collections without any recourse on your end. This last time, when I asked for my issue with the charge to be attended to while I was at their office to ensure it was resolved to both our satisfaction, I was told NO! What egregious disregard for proper protocol and customer service. Additionally, this place is overbooked/overcrowded, and a 45-1 hour wait is not uncommon

I wouldn't recommend this practice to anyone. For a second I felt bad for Dr. Chung for his staff dragging down his practice, but then I realized there is no way he isn't aware and PROVOKING the behavior of his staff when I have seen the same repeated and consistent approach by his employees over the course of 3 years.

Bottom line: Quality medical attention, depths of hell levels of customer service, courtesy, employee knowledge, communication,

DISASTER. Dr. Sapporito is fine, but the front office staff is impossibly unhelpful ?? so much so, that I??ve recently left the practice. Last month I needed a blood test to enter graduate school ?? Just a referral for blood work. My first issue was that they wouldn??t just send a referral to the lab to have the blood work done, but required that I come in so they could collect the co-pay.

So, I scheduled the visit (and was reminded that there is a fee of $50 if I arrive late) and had the staff informed me that my insurance was no longer valid. I knew this was an error, so I asked them to touch base with the United Health to clear thing up. They told me that they didn??t do that sort of thing ?? they require that the customer make the call to the insurance company. I insisted that they were better equipped to deal with the insurance company given, that they communicate with insurance companies all the time. It was at that point that Dr. Sapporito actually said ??yea, and we are sick of dealing with the insurance company.? I was very surprised, because I like her quit a bit as a Dr.

After 20 minutes of this it was clear that I getting frustrated, so the office manager said that she would call the insurance company. She came back 15 minutes later to insist that my insurance was no longer valid. Later when I called the insurance company to understand what happened they confirmed my belief that not only was my insurance still valid, but that there was no record of anyone calling to check on the status of my insurance. Essentially, CCFP lied to me. The icing on the cake is that they are charging me $10 ($0.75 per page plus postage) to send my medical records to my new doctor. Running a Dr. office is more than great medical care, they really need to focus on customer service.

Dr Chung was my doctor for 13 years and I saw him infrequently but was on the whole fairly comfortable with his practice until
I had a rare autoimmune disease in 2007 which upon reflection I would not have expected Dr Chung to diagnose, however I was severely delayed in getting the treatment I desperately needed because the simple results of low sodium serum were missed when I visited him. It seemed like my file was a complete mess and even Dr Chung noted to me that there were pages missing. On a personal level I found Dr Chung to be very approachable and pleasant, however I did get a sense of resigned inattention from him that I did not see 13 years prior when I first vistied him. I do believe him to be a dear and genuinly caring sole however given my experience I cannot recommend him or his practice.

Dr. Chung himself is a fairly decent doctor. But his practice is a wreck. You rarely see him. What you get is a rotating door of assistant dr.'s who either don't really care, or don't have a clue. So there is no relationship, because you see a different person every time who knows nothing about you. The latest assistant dr. gave me a vague description of a problem, and a more vague way to treat it with over-the-counter. When the packaging on the product made no sense with what she said, I called the office to ask her for clarification. The receptionist was a real snot, telling me there are *no* phone calls with the dr.'s, and that they would ignore my request to speak with them. They refused to even hear what my question was! Their answer was for me to make another appointment so I could find out what the hell this woman was talking about. I called Oxford's nurse-on-call service, and got more info in 5 minutes than in this stupid experience at Chung's office. They don't care about patients here, just about billing you and your insurance company. And if you need to see a specialist, they give you such a hard time, because of course they want to get a crack at charging you for a visit first.

This guy is in a big rush, and has a terrible bedside manner. I saw him because I have a new sex partner and wanted std testing and birth control, as well as an annual exam.

He made negative comments, with no relevance to my health, throughout the exam about my tattoos and piercings. I understand some joe on the street having an opinion, but I'm not paying that random dude to attend to my health.

After the exam, he rushed out, without asking me what I wanted to use for birth control (which I had stated several times was the primary reason for my appointment). Then he tried to talk me out of using a diaphragm, because it would take too long to fit it. I had two reasons for my choice: I want to avoid taking drugs/hormones, and I can't orgasm with condoms. But he wanted me to believe that those factors were nothing compared to the ordeal of a lengthy diaphragm fitting (which took 15 min). As if my orgasm wasn't a big factor in choice of birth control. Thanks, doc. Why would I be GETTING b.c. if I didn't like sex? Wouldn't I just abstain?

In general, anything that deviated from convention was a problem for this physician. I'm trying to switch. I prefer a doctor who is capable of creative thinking, so when there's a problem, he doesnt just run through the most obvious answers, disregarding details that are specific to my case.

Dr. Chung and his office offer top-notch general practice healthcare from their location in Manhattan's Murray Hill. The staff takes time to fully explore symptoms and diagnoses, without the rushed feeling found at other family practices. Very understandable and caring, the staff does a great job explaining and asking about certain conditions and treatments.

PROS: Attentive care, low co-payments, detailed explanation
CONS:
