After a terrible reaction to a medication, I developed severe cystic acne on my normally pristine face. As a model and actress, this was beyond devastating, so I went to Dr. Michaels hoping his expertise would offer me a solution.

I did the usual round of paperwork, preliminary questions, and explained my predicament. Dr. Michaels came in, looked at me, and said "Benzoyl peroxide & Retin-A," and began to walk out. I stopped him, saying I had already tried those (As it clearly stated on my chart and in the nurses notes). "Antibiotics" was his next answer as he left- same thing, already tried it. I waited, expecting his return, but was met by a nurse with a pamphlet for his separate Cosmetic Practice. She told me he wanted me to do a series of Blue light treatments which may help. This is a long and VERY expensive treatment not covered by insurance. It may give temporary improvement but not fix my problem.

I finally just broke down crying in front of the nurse, explaining this had kept me out of work and I was horribly in debt. At the time, I had some severe cysts, one that was nearly one inch in diameter, which I pointed out tearfully. She felt sorry for me and went to confer with the doctor. She came back and said they could be injected with a steroid and would go down within about a day. They were injected and went away as stated, although one did leave a scar.

To sum it up, Dr. Michaels acts like the exam room you are in is on fire and he has to escape immediately. He does not read your chart, nor recommend anything but his most expensive cosmetic treatments ranging into the thousands of dollars. The only way to receive any help is to break down into a wailing, sobbing, blubbering mess until you are just so pitiful no one can stand it.

I now see a different dermatologist, who has completely cured me through a very well known, widely used, cheap, and effective little once a day pill. Except for the scar, my skin is now perfect.

Pros: Great Doctor

Cons: poor Staff

Expect to wait you turn. They tripple book at this location for each doctor and the waiting room is so small their should be a limit. Not enough staff members, even when your visit with the doctor is done you will have to wait in this rediculous line just to check out. "Beware" trust your instinct I had a bad experience with one of the doctors and now i have scars on my legs. Remember that beuty is on the inside not the outside!
