I recently visited Doctor Hamm for an evaluation on a fracture of my 5th Metatarsal. Upon finding out I didn??t have insurance; Dr. Hamm informed me there wasn??t much he could do. He concluded that I should just stay in a walking boot that I already had on and I would be back to normal in 6-8 weeks.

I was also told because he said there was nothing he could do for me, that he was not going to charge me for the visit. I just received the bill anyways.

A small piece of bone is almost breaking skin, so obviously this is something that required a minor surgical procedure. I inquired about paying cash for the entire procedure upfront, and both the doctor and the nurse aid in the patient room seemed almost baffled. They couldn??t even give me a ballpark figure and both seemed like they didn??t want to help.

The next day I received a phone call from one of their representatives informing me that Dr. Hamm does surgeries like this for around 2000 Dollars, this does not include the surgery room time, anesthesiologist, etc. I would be looking at 5000-6000 dollars give or take a few hundred dollars. The odd part is, when I was in Dr. Hamm??s office, he stated that a surgery like mine would only net him 600-700 dollars. What a strange twist? Also, one would think 600-700 dollars for a 30 minute procedure would be well worth it, but it jumped to 2000 Dollars the next day? This is medical discrimination at its finest.

Not only did Dr. Hamm charge me, he also mentioned going to a free public clinic located in Bloomington, Illinois to have my foot checked out at. Talk about contradicting yourself. First it was there was nothing that he could do, although I would have paid for everything, then he recommended that I seek cheaper treatment. Talk about double talk. No charge turned into a 180 dollar consult that lasted no more than 3-5 minutes. Add on the fact that the doctor quasi turned me away even though surgery was needed, and you??re left with one upset customer.

I have finally found a doctor who will treat me and has everything set up. I am currently going to be broke from medical debt because I lack insurance. Although, I am paying for all services upfront to ensure I have a proper foot to work on for the rest of my life. The other major component being I don??t want to destroy my credit rating, so paying everything is a must.

I would not recommend Dr. Hamm for anybody who does not have insurance. On top of all my medical debt, I thought Dr. Hamm was throwing a beat up dog a bone, but instead he has sent me a bill I can??t afford and one I did not expect to receive.

I have reported Dr. Hamm to the BBB, and will contest this ridiculous charge for a 3-5 minute visit? To top it off, I even brought in fresh X-rays, so the only thing Dr. Hamm did for me was push me aside like a second class citizen.

Two years ago I had a right rotator cuff torn bad enough it required a patch. This procedure was not able to be done locally and Dr Hanson was recommended. He did the procedure and I have had great results from his work. If that wasn't enough I tore the left one this past summer / fall and from having much faith in him I made an appointment and the same procedure was done at the Surgery Center again. He and his staff seem to really care and treat their patients in a caring, honest, and professional way.
Thank you Dr. Hansen and staff.

I saw Dr Gerald Paul and had excellent treatment. Thanks to a surgical procedure and PT, I got back 90% use of my foot. The doctor that I saw for a second opinion had never even done the recommended procedure. Of the podiatrists that I have seen in 4 different states, Dr. Paul was the best. I highly recommend him.

I saw Dr. Oakey at McLean County Orthopedics for a cyst in my wrist. He spent a decent amount of time with me during my first visit and told me my options for getting rid of it. I was in and out pretty quickly in my first few visits. I ended up having hand surgery and was happy with the care I received.

My only complaint is at my last appointment (to remove my stitches) I was kept waiting for a little over an hour. I did not receive an explanation for the wait and was a bit irritated.
