More about CCREAT ~ Center for Creative, Restorative & Expressive Arts Therapy

I offer a highly integrative approach to psychotherapy. With over 25 years of professional experience in the allied health fields, I incorporate a variety of methods into our sessions including creative and expressive arts, yoga therapy, sand tray therapy, voice, movement, and anything else I believe might be useful to the client. In addition to being a Somatic (body-centered) Psychotherapist, I am also a massage therapist with over 20 years experience. Unlike most psychotherapists, I may incorporate psychotherapeutic touch into sessions if I believe it would be helpful to the client. This is often the case in those suffering from chronic conditions. I firmly believe that each person has a grounded, core self that is available to them. Part of my job is to help the individual navigate the beliefs and behaviors that get in the way of living their best life. Often times what gets in the way of living in our core grounded self are the many parts of ourselves that are in conflict with each other, so we spend a great deal of energy and effort in an internal war. I teach people how to live more gently with all the aspects of who they are. Also, our difficult behaviors, while seemingly dysfunctional, always have some kind of wisdom behind them. For example, people who tend to abuse drugs/alcohol tend to do so because the cannot tolerate difficult emotional states like loneliness, sadness, abandonment, etc. So, in some way their addiction is serving them by making what is intolerable, tolerable. If we can see the wisdom of the behavior and the need it is meeting, we can have more compassion towards the behavior and learn different tools for getting our needs met. I offer a wide variety of groups including movement therapy and meditation. I also train other therapists in the use of psychotherapeutic touch.
