.

My child saw this therapist for 2 years on a regular basis (weekly individual appointments and weekly social skills group). Cheryl is good at her job, but the problem is with the overall running and management of the office. It's a complete disaster. Scheduling appointments is VERY difficult. Her offiice administrator is not very competent; loses messages, phone numbers, tells you the wrong appointment times, etc. Also, appointment times don't mean much because there are regular cancellations. Paperwork is not processed in a timely or professional manner. When we first came on, it took nearly 4 months before we even got the diagnosis code, treatment plan, or billing statement sent to the insurance company! We were told repeatedly "don't worry", but if you (like us) had an insurer that required prior approval, it could have been a HUGE problem if they had denied our claim. Communication is also severely lacking. Both the provider and Office Administrator are Luddites; neither understands or uses technology appropriately. The office phone is not answered continuously during office hours. There is only one line, so it often goes to voice mail (which is not always returned). The office's outgoing voice message is not updated regularly (sometimes months out-of-date). E-mails are not returned promptly or at all; sometimes you have to re-send them two or three times because they are "lost." The practice has a website, in theory, but hasn't been updated in years. They don't send out a newsletter, and they don't use an e-mail list - so no alerts are sent in case of inclement weather or to announce office closures. Often you go for appointments or social skills groups only to find out that they have been cancelled because one of the therapists isn't present. Yet no one calls to tell you, so you've wasted your time driving in traffic down Rte 7/Leesburg Pike. It's just very frustrating, and no one seems to acknowledge or care about the impact on the customer. Bottom line - Cheryl is a good therapist once you actually get in to see her - but putting up with all of the other stuff was a hassle and very unpleasant. Unfortunately for her clients, business is very good and so she's not interested in doing anything that would improve the customer service experience. The mentality is basically "take it or leave it" - and after 2 years - we could no longer take it, so we left.
