Prior to my visit with Dr. Chien I suffered severe migraines 2-3 times per week. I had all but exhausted my treatment options. Dr. Chien listened attentively to my concerns, thoroughly explained treatment options and was progressive in his approach. I am pleased to say I have been migraine free for 15 months and am extremely satisfied with my treatment option. I am so very happy to have met Dr. Chien for he gave me back my life.

I just recently stopped seeing Dr. Chein and his NP Doug Lucas last week.
Their bedside manner is just awful. Last week when I brought in my new/current MRI results for Doug to look at (along with the radiologists report). Doug came into my room and told me everything looks pretty good.....but then said, "well L4-L5 and L5-S1 have a tear, cyst, bulging disk, and the last two disks in my vertebrae are degenerating a little more rapid than they should be. oooohhh but all the other disks look normal.
Confusing....which is it? Is my back fine and I'm imagining all this debilitating pain or do you see what the radiologist reports and agree with him or not????

I have been put through all the injections, blocks, treatments...and basically all that is left to do is manage my pain.
One of the medications Doug wanted to put me on was a patch. I asked him if there were any risks for blood clots. His response was "Well, yes, but very minimal." I answered...."There is NO WAY I could or would take it then, due to my history of blood clots in my right leg and a Pulmonary Embolism." His answer was....well were your blood clots due to medication?"
WHAAAAT????? Helloooo

The next medication I've been on before is Tramadol. I was taken off of it over a year ago because if taken with one of the meds I'm on now, there is a strong likely hood of a seizure and what do you know.......I have epilepsy. I once again informed him of the information he should have had stored in his mind or in my "chart" Then he had the nerve to ask me if I ever had a seizure while taking the two meds. LOL I answered....."no.......your boss took me off tramadol, apparently he didn't' want to just wait and see"

Doug was 100% rude, especially on my second visit. My husband and I would explain something to him, but he'd have his back to us, typing on the computer all while he was talking to himself.

What ever happened to doctors caring about their patients???
What about believing their patients and treating the pain they live with day in and day out???? This has never happened in the year I've been seen there.

I often wonder if they would treat their loved ones who can only sleep 2 hours a night because they are in so much, or if that member had six children and a home to care for, but can barely walk through the house or do the shopping needed.

I would NEVER recommend Dr Chein or his "Physicians Assistant" Doug Lucas.

Business Response:

Thank you for your feedback. I regret that you were treated in this way by my staff. Our practice highly values patient satisfaction and routinely solicits comments such as yours through our patient surveys. Any concerns are brought to the attention of the practice manager, who works personally with each patient to resolve any concerns. We regret we could not resolve your concerns in a timely manner. Besides your comments about your interaction with the nurse practitioner (which I do not condone), I do not see any specific details in your comments regarding what I personally had said or done to offend you. Nevertheless, even without knowing the specifics, I apologize for the "awful bedside manner" that I conveyed. Your description of having failed "all the injections, blocks, treatments..." suggests that your case was very challenging, and I am sorry I and my staff were not able find an effective treatment for you. However, the field of medicine is always advancing, and I would be happy to review your case again and discuss any new treatments that have since become available. At the same time, this would allow me the chance to personally clear these misunderstandings with you.
