If you've ever had any chronic pain, you know that it can consume almost every moment and thought. You can't escape it. Dr. Chin is a HORRIBLE doctor. He is anti-social, makes no eye-contact, just scribbles in his journal or voice recorder about you, and makes you feel like you are a crazy, lying drug abuser.
I went to him because I had 3 surgeries but the pain would not cease. I was taking a normal dose of norco to battle the pain. He then forced me to take morphine. Then only months later, Methadone. Before I went to him, I took 2-3 meds. By the time I went running and screaming away from him, I was taking 13 meds a day. Did my injury get worse? NO. The meds he forced/required me to take nearly stole my entire life for about 5 yrs. Pain medicine makes your tolerance lower and your pain FEEL worse, every day --even worse! And when I did my research on Methadone, he said that it was that med or nothing...A doctor, with a severely injured, chronically in pain patient, will put out an ultimatium that I either take a a horrible medicine, or go cold turkey. I begged for any new treatment and to get off or lower my medication needs...Never mind the severe pain, people can die from withdrawls, and if not, they wish they had...
He is uncaring, rude, and smug. When I once asked him VERY nicely if maybe I should see another doctor who might help me more, he said something like, "oh, well-I'm the best you'll find..." Humble?
When by some miracle, I was able to change doctors, I really figured out how HORRIBLE he really was, once I got a better education about pain management and the effects and serious side effects that come from these drugs. My new doctor sent me to a health program to slowly detox from the methadone 8 months ago. And I did. While under Dr Chin's care (ha) I was prescribed 450 --10 mg methadone pills a month, besides the other 12 meds. I now only take aspirin, and have taken exactly --2--pain pills, vicodin, in the last eight months. I did not have any surgery or find some miracle cure, I was just being slowly poisoned to death by DR CHIN! I still have side effects from the methadone even now, but I'm getting better--but would HOPE-HOPE-HOPE-that no one sees this man, or at least doesn't take any of his advice. I take better care of my goldfish then this man ever did for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
