.

I was admitted to O.S. Hospital on july 30, 2009 by Cobb's partner, Heitzman, for malignant hypertension and an abnormal EKG. Heitzman suspected I had had a heart attack earlier. Cobb blew into my room in a rage. He was red in the face and bouncing on his feet and he proceeded to scream and curse at me nonstop for about 15 minutes. He was incoherent and irrational and I though he was drunk or high. (I still think so). He screamed at me about not taking a medication that was contraindicated for patients with Raynaud's Syndrome, which I have, and he yelled at me about missing records from my file (not my responsibility). He cursed about my being in the hospital at all and yelled,"What the hell are you doing in the goddam hospital? There's nothing wrong with you!." He drove my blood pressure into the stratosphere and could have induced a fatal stroke (my blood pressure had been running around 200/100) but he did not care what happened to me. I tried to reason with him but he ignored me completely and screamed the same questions over and over.

I was too frightened to push the call button to summon a nurse because Cobb was closer to the button than I was and I was afraid he would attack me. He finally left, very abruptly. I went out to the nurses' station and told them that if he ever got into my room again, I would sue the hospital. I asked who he was and none of the nurses would make eye-contact with me. They pretended not to know him. I am certain they heard the entire obscene tirade coming from my room.

I have never been so scared in my life as I was that morning. I thought this man was a lunatic posing as a doctor, and I wondered how the hospital could allow this madman into my room.
I was convinced that he was either drunk or under the influence of drugs.

I complained in writing to the MS Board of Medical Licensure about Cobb, to no avail. I also wrote to the CEO of the Singing River Hospital System, again, to no avail. Nobody was willing to discipline this unspeakable doctor or deal with the liability he presented to the hospital and the patients. Shame on the entire medical profession for allowing a patient to be abused in this manner!
