I had made cleaning appointments within the prior six months for my girls to see the dentist on January 26, 2013 and for myself on February 9, 2013. I called sometime during the week of 1/26/13 to reschedule my appointment. I was informed at that time that my appt and my girls appts had been cancelled due to an unpaid bill that was sent to collections. This bill was never mailed to my address nor did anyone contact me via phone, although they had no problem calling it to remind of my appointments. No one ever called to tell me the appointments were cancelled. During 2012 I had changed my address and that of my girls due to their father and I getting a divorce. We have joint custody and I carry all the insurance on the girls. My ex is a former patient and stayed at the old address. They changed the address, yet kept us all under my ex's "account". When the bill was mailed they mailed to his address. They never once mailed the bill to me or called me. They have my phone number and have used it to confirm my appointments and my girls with them on several occasions. I worked with the office manager and got her to pull the files and email me a copy of the bill. They refused to pull it from collections. In looking at the bill I noticed that I was over overcharged for bite wing x-rays on the girls. The office manager called Met Life once and tried to get correct information but was told it was correct. I worked with my benefits department to get the claim refiled. They had to mail the money to the dentist however and still refused to pull the account from collections so I could pay the bill. I decided to switch dentists. It took several weeks and phones call to get them to copy our medical records for me and they refused to waive the $25 fee for it depiste me driving down there to drop off release forms one day and to pick them up another day. The office manager was slow to get back to me and only after I called her 2 or 3 times. Met Life has since paid the $50 to the dentist. I have paid the collection agency for the full amount and they have cashed my check. When my benefits department called the dentist office she was told they would have the collection agency reduce the amount and when told I had already paid it and the check was cashed she was then told I still owed them money. They are now saying that I got 4 copies of records (I only recieved 3) and they were $25 each. When I was physically in the office the front desk girl and the office manager were both there and I was told it was only $25. The records I ended up receving were 1 x-ray for myself and my 2 girls (3 xrays total) and 6 pieces of paper. They are asking $75 for that. I have been at this dentist my entire life and only 2 pieces of paper were copied. I am working 2 jobs to pay off debt incurred largely due to my divorce. I would have paid the bill. I had no idea that it even existed until I called them to reschedule my appt. It is absolutely ridiculous that they can use my phone number to remind of appointments but not a bill or even mail it a second address listed on the account. I also find it very frustrating to be wanting to get this resovled and not getting calls returned or even the slightest urgency placed on the situation. This all started the week January 26th - today is April 29, 2013 and I am still waiting for a return call from the office regarding the $50 insurance is mailing to them. My benefits deparment is also waiting for a return call. I have made a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they have responded once placing all blame on me and my exhusband, stating they we are both saying the other is responsible for it. That is a lie. Since I have found out about this issue I have been working to get it paid going so far as to tell them not to send anything to him because it would not get taken care of and to send it to me, that I would handle it. Their office practices are completely ridiculous and they were difficult to work with despite this being their error and refused to waive the copy fee.

My daughter needed to have some teeth pulled for braces. When we set the appointment I was told that I could be with her till she got hooked up on the IV when we arrived they told me that parents were not allowed back in the room.So she went back and within 5 min she came out in tears saying that he was yelling at her and he told her she needed to sit down and act her age. Any good dentist knows that they need to be professional and try to keep espically a child comfortable. This dentist has been known to manhandle patients in the past from what I have read in other reviews. I also had some work done that day with another dentist in his office and have never had a problem with the other dentist there. A week later after this happend I had got a phone call from the office saying that since Robert Colwell had problems with my daughter that I was not welcome to come back to his office to finish the work that the other dentist has started. I would not recomend any person espically a child to EVER go to this office.

My wife saw this dentist after a deep cleaning for the post deep cleaning check up, already had a treatment plan with her regular dentist. said need a root canal no reason given, made an appointment, she thought with her regular dentist. after waiting for 45 min after her appointment was scheduled, She find out it was with Colwell, asked why a root canal, "because you need one" part way through drilling he says there's infection, needs to give me a shot and have me come back, there is no actual sign of infection. She tried to switch to my regular dentist for the second half no luck. Wait 30 min after appointment scheduled (second half of the root canal), She goes to the back, wait 15 more min. injection given over an hour later he comes back to actually work on her mouth. during this there is a burning rubber smell, the temporary crown out on was not smoothed and cuts the inside of her mouth. at home when looked at the is black gunk all over that side of her mouth.
finally gets to see her regular dentist after outright refusing to see Colwell again. her regular dentist gets started on her fillings and asks why i had the root canal?! nothing in my chart for it no reason the only reason he knew i had one is because he was putting the permanent crown on. there was no reason for me to have had the root canal!
