My experience with this doctor the first three visits/conversations were professional but my last phone appointment was completely unethical, unprofessional, arrogant, and it was apparent he was incompetent. I had no complaints with Kaiser Permanente until this very inappropriate conversation with Saito. This man did not answer my healthcare concerns, he dodged my questions and was condescending in his response towards my confusion in his vague answers to the point I had to ask him, ??don't you think a patient has the right to understand exactly what they have and understand the terminology you are using?? And he responded with annoyance, ??no you actually don't.? Had he told me he didn't know the answers to my questions, I would have moved on and not asked the same question in 10 different ways to get a straight answer from him. Then he proceeded to attack me with, "it's becoming apparent that you have an anxiety disorder and I don't understand why I have to talk to patients when it's pointless to talk to them" I was so dumbfounded, frustrated, and offended that I started to cry.. and eventually mustered.."what you just said was unethical, and I feel uncomfortable continuing this conversation" then hung up. Can doctors talk to their patients like this? I've moved around a lot and consequently have had many different doctors across the nation and never came across an unethical and highly incompetent doctor like Saito. I??ve had a few doctors who were conversationally awkward or didn??t seem to really care, but they were professional and competent. If they didn??t know an answer to my question, they weren??t too arrogant to admit it and provide an alternate source. Instead he tried to make me feel like there was something wrong with me wanting to understand my condition. So this is completely new to me, I don't know what else to do but spread the word of my experience. It's obvious this has happened before where he bullied his patients from asking more questions to get them off the phone, as he expected me to as well. I hope this review at the very least prevents future inappropriate conduct and maltreatment towards his patients or encourage a potential new patient highly reconsider choosing this one. I placed a formal complaint to his supervisor, apparently every supervisor is the official patient advocate at Kaiser Permanente. I??m not sure how Kaiser Permanente view patient advocacy, may go one ear out the other but I guess only time will tell how they handle this report.
