.

I recently had a septorhinoplasty done and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Dr. Murakami. After two previous failed septoplasties by other doctors, I thought that there was little hope, but I was having such trouble sleeping at night that I was desperate. After 13 years of suffering I finally decided to bite the bullet and was referred to Dr. M. He is very well-known and respected in the Seattle area. Everyone I talked to about him (both inside and outside the medical community) gave him high praise and said that they would not hesitate to recommend him to a friend or family member. He was also listed as one of Seattle Magazine??s Top Doctors in 2009 and 2010.

I had two visits with him before having the surgery. I actually had to postpone the surgery for 5 months because my insurance was being a pain, but he and his staff helped me fight to finally get it approved (Cosmetic??? Give me a break! Who would want to go through this if they didn??t have to???).

After meeting him there was no doubt in my mind that he is a very smart man. He knows what he??s doing and he was able to pinpoint the specific reasons for my breathing trouble (there were several) and how to fix them. Everything he said made perfect sense to me. He told me that he sees a lot of patients like me who have had previous surgeries and are still having trouble and he really enjoys helping them. I found him to be very personable and sympathetic.

On the day of surgery he came to see me in pre-op and we went through everything one more time. His bedside manner was very comforting and helped to put my nerves at ease (as much as was possible just before going in for major surgery). The procedure was scheduled to last 2 ?? 2 hours, but ended up going 3 because there was more residual scar tissue and cartilage to clean up from my previous procedures than he had anticipated and he wanted to take his time and make sure it was done correctly. I strongly believe it was due to his meticulousness that my recovery was virtually pain free. He came to see me one more time in the recovery room to give me the thumbs up before leaving for the day.

Recovery so far has been pretty much as expected. There was a lot of swelling and bruising, which was expected but, as I mentioned above, there was very little pain. The cast and splints have since been removed and, while there is still some swelling, I can definitely tell that it is starting to go down and my breathing is getting better and better every day.

I would be remiss if I didn??t also mention the wonderful staff at the office. Everyone there is extremely friendly and always makes me feel welcome and comfortable.

I feel confident that Dr. Murakami was the best doctor to perform my surgery!
