SUCH A JOKE- I walked out. I'm honestly not sure how this lady has been able to maintain an office, let alone a medical license. She's unbelievably rude, uninterested, unprofessional, inattentive, with a poor bedside manner as is her

This pediatrician is the best not only in the city of Kansas City but in the whole USA. I have been moving from one State to the next being a medical professional myself. I was very particular about finding the best pediatrician in town for my 3 children. Dr Cullens is an excellent pediatrician. She is very knowledgeable not only in general pediatrics but also in Pediatric Infectious Disease. Her diagnostic skills are excellent and to the point and she exudes confidence in taking care of well and sick children especially in Infectious diseases. She has been a real asset to my family especially that I am very particular about the medical care of my children.I HIGHLY recommend DR AMY CULENS for her expertise and her professionalism in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases.Furthermore her staff is excellent and very helpful and kind to the patients.

Pros: Highly Recommended , Excellent Pediatric Care

Cons: NONE

Poor bedside manner. I saw Dr. Cullens when we first moved to town for the first 4 years. She was usually curt and seemed agitated when I asked questions. Our last visit was our final visit though - it was annual exam time and she was about to leave the room without having checked any of my 3 daughters for the things I had asked the nurse to write in their charts as areas of concern. When I brought it to her attention she was rude and with my youngest child she grabbed her arm roughly to hoist her to the exam table. I did not like the way she touched my child.

Being rude to me is forgivable, but being rude to my children is NOT! We switched pediatricians - but this time only after getting several referrals from friends.

I am actually a former patients of Dr. Cullens and choose her for my son because I was familiar with her. He was born premature and has been receiving care under her pratice for the last 4 yrs. The problem is that staff is extremely rude, the doctor seems as if her time is stretched too thin, and I do not feel as if he receives adequate care. After visiting her office while my son had a fever and was that it was just a virus and no follow up treatment needed really made me concerned. There were no test ran to confirm the type of virus, severity of the virus, etc. Instead a week later he still had a fever lingering on. Needless to say, I have since changed him to another pediatrician. Though I was familiar with this doctor, I will not be able to return to her practice for fear that my son's health is not being properly evaluated.

Pros: None

Cons: Long waits, short exams, rude staff

I have been taking my son to Dr. Cullens for over 4 years. Lately I have noticed the office staff being rude and careless and I was noticing really long wait times. I kept going, though, because I THOUGHT Dr. Cullens was a good doctor. Also, we have been going there so long I didn't want to change. UNTIL TODAY!
My 4 year old son was supposed to start a new daycare today (Monday). Friday I called asking for shot records and for the dr to sign the form saying my son is healthy enough for daycare. Standard stuff! The rude girl who answered the phone told me that since my son has not been there in over a month I would have to bring him in for a physical before the doctor would sign the paper. He had a physical and his shots 6 months ago!!!!! It's not time for another phys for 6 more months. I needed the papers so I made an appointment for 10:45 this morning. I went in with cash to pay for the appt (no insurance) and was told that I would need to pay over $300 for the visit. This included almost $100 for an "eye exam" which consists of my kid standing on a piece of red tape and reading the eye chart. WHAT!?!?! I told them i wasnt paying that much money for all these things because I dont need them. All i needed was shot records and for the doctor to sign the paper saying my son was safe for daycare. The office manager asked Dr. Cullens if she could just sign the paper and she screamed at him in front of everyone "NO!" and then she scurried off around the corner. I ended up being forced to pay nearly $200 to get a flu shot that we werent planning to get til his next physical and for an "exam" that we NEVER received. The doctor never even came into the exam room once. The nurse just took my sons temp, gave him a shot, then went and found the doctor so she could sign the papers and I could leave. WE WERE FORCED TO PAY FOR MEDICAL SERVICES WE DIDNT NEED AND DIDNT USE JUST SO THIS RUDE DOCTOR WOULD SIGN THE SIMPLE PAPER SO MY SON COULD GO TO DAYCARE. This is insane. I'm going back tomorrow when my son's in daycare to give them a piece of my mind. Oh yeah- we also had to wait 45 minutes. For what????? NEVER take your child here. I sure wont be bringing mine back ever again.

This is the most disfunctional place I've ever heard of. I've never been to a place that could care less about their patients or their staff. I can't believe that during a trip to the dr concerned for the well being of my sick child, I leave with an even worse feeling after witnessing their staff and other patients get talked down to and yelled at infront of everyone. So not only do I not get the care or attention my child need but I get to witness the most unprofessional behavior that I've ever seen. .

I've never seen my child "examined" so quickly, with such rough handling and sharp tones. She grabbed her arm and brusquely said, "Get down" before yanking her off the exam table and barking orders for my next daughter to get on.

She didn't even read the charts on any of my 3 daughters to see what things I had concerns about for this visit. She was about to leave and her nurse pointed out that she hadn't looked at my daughter's wart that I wanted examined. She was about to leave AGAIN when I pointed out that she hadn't even looked at my other daughters rash on her face.

She finally left without even checking the chart or checking my 3rd daughter's spine. My niece of the same age was just diagnosed with a spinal curve. She had all three girls bend over at the same time during the examination, but my daughters long hair covered her spine. Dr. Armisa Cullens never had a visual and did not even feel to check it. However, I didn't try to stop her from leaving without having checked my daughter properly for the THIRD time because I had already decided that she was incompetent to trust with my children's health.

I wish I had selected their pediatrician based on referrals rather than gender. Lesson learned.
