Dr. Currell comes across, at least initially, as a doctor with great bedside manner. He conducts a thorough examination and takes time to explain what he is doing - he just doesn't explain how much he is charging!! After repeatedly asking for only a specific type of examination, plus a new prescription, I was charge almost $500. The discrepency came from additional fees he neglected to mention. It's ironic that the only additional fee he mentioned was a $50 exam fee (not the ~$250 fee). When I complained about the charges he started to discount the fee before taking it off completely.

He also recommends and sells his own contact lenses which is normally ok (although it is always a conflict of interest); however, in this case he pushed his lenses and solutions rather aggressively.
To make matters worse, when I tried to buy my contacts online he refused to verify my prescription, an issue I have never had in the past.

My personal take is that he was probably a good doctor at some point but got caught up in trying to make even simple visits cost $500. I'd try another doctor next time.

Pros: Explains procedures well

Cons: Excessive billing, lack of communication, refuses to verify prescription for online purchases. He may not have a receptionist.
