My first appointment with Dr. Rodriguez was 4 months after my 35-year-old daughter had died. He had also seen my daughter on one occasion. I told him I was tired all the time, depressed, did not want to go out, and asked him for a recommendation for a psychologist. He told me I should be well over my daughter's death by now. (What a ridiculous comment). About 10 months later, even with seeing a psychologist, I still had no energy, no appetite, no desire to do anything, and noticed that my tongue had a white coating on it all the time and wanted to know what it was, so I made another appointment. I did not get to see Dr. Rodriguez, but his P.A. John McGowen. McGowen ran 2 sets of blood tests and told me to start taking Lysine vitamin supplements for my tongue. The third time I saw McGowen, my blood tests had remained the same with a very slight elevation in my white blood cell count. He told me at that time that I had Adult Leukemia. Another ridiculous answer since I had spent my life taking care of my daughter who had leukemia a child. Adult leukemia is a cancer that is very difficult to treat and your life expectancy can be as little as a couple of months. Why, oh why, did not the Doctor himself give me this diagnosis? I told McGowen he was absolutely out of his mind and had no right to give me this type of diagnosis; it should have been given to me by the Doctor and talked about with Dr. Rodriguez. Totally incompetent. Also, when I had to pick up the death certificates for my daughter that contained the doctors findings of her cause of death, they were completely and totally 100 % wrong. He had all the paperwork from all her tests she had received not 4 months earlier for HIV, Hep C, and heart disease. He wrote on her death certificate that she died of HIV complicated by Hep C and heart disease. I was too upset to even call or write to him to have it corrected.
