I went to see Dr. Bockmann after my Ortho told me that a knee surgery would be quick and painless. I wasn't convinced that surgery was the right move for me, so I sought out someone who though they could rehab the injury instead.

Dr. B offered no guarantee that rehab would work, but we slowly worded at it until we felt happy with the progress. After a few months I was back on the road and slowly built up my base mileage to were I was pre injury.

While it is possible that I could have been back on the road a little quicker with surgery, I am happy I did not take that route.

Last summer, I was experiencing shoulder pain that was affecting my sleep and limiting my sporting activities. I went to Dr. Bockmann who put me on a PT schedule that had me back up to full speed within a month.

Dr. Bockmann has been taking care of and keeping my back inner core intact ever since February of '08. I have a sacralized L4/L5 vertabrae in my lower back. He was able to get me straightened out (no pun intended) and he has kept my back intact and strong ever since. He was also very instrumental in getting my life back in order after a botched Achilles tendon reconstruction following a soccer injury where I ripped the Achilles tendon completely off of the heel bone. He not only recommended a podiatric surgeon to correct the problems, he was also instrumental in helping rehab my foot/ankle back to where it needed to be. While my soccer career is over, I am forever grateful to Dr. Bockmann for his professional care, enthusiasm and concerns regarding my specific health issues.

I was diagnosed with patellar tendonosis and I was having lots of pain running, performing weighted squats, and even just going up and down stairs. After about 2 months Dr. Bockmann got me back to doing everything virtually pain free. Not only was he very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had, the other staff there is friendly as well.

I have had lower back pain for over 10 years and "throw" my back out about once a year. Doctors and physical therapists in the past gave me mediocre exercises and recommended that I stay in bed on pain killers until I was free of pain. These were not long term solutions and I had resigned myself to dealing with this pain for the rest of my life.
Just before Thanksgiving, I threw it out again and was unable to walk or sit without excruciating pain. My co-worker recommended Dr. Bockmann and I went expecting a similar approach and treatment plan as previous doctors.
It was a very different experience -- Dr. Bockmann took x-rays and went over them in detail (the 1st dr. who has ever taken x-rays); he spent significant time discussing my treatment goals (and fears) all based upon my lifestyle, employment and everything that is unique about me which directly impacts my chances for a successful recovery.
The physical therapy exercises were challenging but never too difficult and I felt the benefits almost immediately. These are the first exercises I have truly adapted into my day and workout routines. (An added bonus is the great workout to my abs and core!)
I took a 10 day trip in the middle of my treatment and Dr. Bockmann gave me exercises to do on the plane and hotel room. While I did have one flare up, I am now completely pain free and feel confident that I can remain so if I continue to do the exercises and home treatments Dr. Bockmann has provided.
I highly recommend Dr. Bockmann!

I am a full time RN working on my feet 13 hours a day, and was havaing tremendous back, leg, and foot pain. Dr. Bockmann worked with me on all three of these areas and now my pain is minimal and only inflicted when I do not follow the personalized exercises he prescribed for me. I was able to stop taking pain medicines and muscle relaxers that other doctors had prescribed for me and I now feel better than I ever have, even during my crazy shift hours.

Dr. Bockman helps me to be as strong and active as I can be, pain-free, given my numerous old injuries (upper & lower back plus surgeries on both knees). He provides outstanding chiropractic care with the approach of a physical therapist.

It was the day before leaving on a trip to Cancun that I had won from a fitness competition. I worked so hard for this trip. My lower back went out and I was in so much pain that I considered canceling my trip. My trainer referred me to Dr. Bockmann that same day and he fit me into his schedule to help me. Between himself and his physical therapist, they worked on my back for two hours. I was able to make my trip and when I got back, started my physical therapy and I have absolutely no back pain. I would highly recommend Dr. Bockmann. Not only is he an awesome Chiropractor, he's compassionate as well.

I was recommended to have surgery for my knee injury. But I really did not want to have the surgery. After consulting with Dr Bockmann, I decided to go with his recommended treatment plan that included exercise and rehab. Now almost a year later, my knee is back to normal and I did not have to do a costly surgery. I highly recommend Dr Bockmann. He is a great man

After an unidentified knee injury, I called Dr. Bockmann?s office for an appointment based on some recommendations, and I was not disappointed. I hobbled in there with help from a friend as I couldn't walk on my own, after going days without a decent night's sleep due to the pain.

After some tests and an immediate start with a physical therapy regimen, I was already feeling a bit stronger and more hopeful about recovery, if not a bit more sore, too. I've now got a personalized plan of attack, and Dr. Bockmann was willing to help me work around my financial limitations, too.

When I first began having difficulty walking, I was terrified that treatment would be unaffordable or inaccessible. But, not so. They were even able to schedule me within a day of my call. Plus, most gratifying of all, Dr. Bockmann doesn't seem to see his patients as faceless dollar signs or unimportant hassles in his day.

The more cynical among you (like me) might think this is just something put-on to improve business, but his genuine concern for patients comes through undeniably when you see how he manages multiple patients in the physical therapy room. He takes care with each person and listens without giving the impression that you need to hurry up so he can move on -- even if there are a half dozen people in the room and he really *does* need to move on. A truly nice and encouraging doctor who will give you hope. Now that's something I like in a healthcare provider!

Also, his office helped me hook up an MRI for about 1/3 the usual cost. What!

I have been a long distance runner for about 15 years. About five years ago, I started having a lot of pain in my knees during longer runs (over 4 miles). After running a half marathon three years ago, the pain in my knees was so bad I had to stop running. I went to a sports medicine clinic and saw an orthopedic surgeon. He referred me to physical therapy, and I did a supervised physical rehab program for two months. I did everything they told me to do during rehaband still had terrible pain in my knees after running for as little as five minutes. When I talked to Dan about my problems, he said he could help. While I really didn't believe there was anything that could be done, it was worth a try. He took a more holistic approach in my rehab. He showed me three simple exercises I could do at home, and after less than two weeks I ran twenty minutes without any pain... for the first time in years. I just ran twelve miles with absolutely NO KNEE PAIN. I never thought this would be possible. No surgery, no lengthy exercise program, no weights or equipment, and I'm stronger and healthier than I've ever been. I feel like Dan cared as much about my recovery as I did, and worked very hard to give me a reasonable, effective rehab program. Every time someone around me tells me they're in pain, I always tell them to go to Dan. He also takes all major health insurance plans. His office is really professional and accessible. I had an incredible experience.

Back at the end August I was diagnosed with a discoid meniscus injury in my knee and being a active volleyball player it was hard to not be able to be active anymore. I was given the choice of getting the surgery or not playing sports. So I decided I wanted to be active again and got the surgery. I met Dr. Bockmann through volleyball and decided that since he knew how I was before my surgery he would be my best bet to get me back to the shape I was. During our first meeting I mentioned to him that I run the Race for the Cure every year and that my goal was to be able to run it in the beginning of November.

He told me that I would probably walk it, but not run it. I was a little upset but worked through physical therapy. He made physical therapy fun, was encouraging and knew so many great techniques to build my knee strength back up. Every task Dr. Bockmann gave I challenged myself and exceeded our expectations. My progress with him was great! Because of Dr. Bockmann I recovered quicker than originally projected and I RAN the Race for the Cure and got the best time I have ever had due to the conditioning Dr. Bockmann gave me.

My knee feels great, even better than before my surgery. On my own I don't think I would have recovered that fast without Dr. Bockmann and his team.

On May 1, 2010 I fell down some stairs while carrying my 16 month old daughter. She was alright, I was not. I dislocated and displaced my ankle, had a fractured tibia and my fibula was fractured in 5 places. I required orthopedic surgery putting a titanium plate and 10 screws in my left leg. I spent a total of 8 weeks in a hard cast with no leg movement. When my cast was removed my orthopedic surgeon said that it could take 8 months for the swelling and the pain to go away and there was a possibility that I would always have pain in my leg. This was terrifying to hear. I?m young, healthy, in my late twenties I should not be worrying about if I?m going to be able to walk without pain or if I will be limping for the rest of my life. At that moment I knew I needed all the help I could get and the first step was to find a good physical therapist.

I meet Dr. Bockmann after getting a recommendation from my cousin who was going to him after having surgery for a torn achilles tendon. Dr. Bockmann was extremely nice but more importantly concerned for my well being and only wanted to see my quality of life improve. From the get go Dr. Bockmann gave me a goal by asking me ?What do you want to be able to do at the end of physical therapy that you cannot currently do?? My answer, ?Run 3 miles,? which was hard to imagine at that moment because I couldn?t walk more than a couple blocks and I limped the entire way. To meet this goal Dr. Bockmann had me go to physical therapy 3 times a week for six weeks. Every time I came to the office Dr. Bockmann asked how I was feeling, my concerns for my leg and how my progress was going. During the six weeks I felt me leg strengthen and my overall health improve. By the end of my treatment I was back to working out and running with minimal swelling and pain. The only reason anyone would know something was wrong with my left leg was the very visible scar. I cannot thank Dr. Bockmann enough for helping me get back to my new old self. When people ask how I?m doing now I say ?Never better, I had four amazing men in my life that helped me get through an extremely difficult injury; God, my husband, my orthopedic surgeon and my physical therapist, Dr. Bockmann.?

In late August I was competing in a Women?s A level sand volleyball tournament when I felt my lower back beginning to hurt before my the last match. It had done this before, so I thought "warm up a little more, stretch a little more". I had my partner help me stretch and hoped I could make it through the day. Being a fiercely competitive person, I didn't want to pull out of the tournament. By the end of the day, I couldn't walk - the pain was so intense through my lower back and down my legs. I laid on my back on the patio at the local volleyball bar and grill watching the playoffs and trying to find some relief from the pain. The drive home was excruciating ? I would say my pain was at a consistent 9.99 on a scale of 1-10! No position - sitting, standing, lying down ? eased the pain. Pain relievers did nothing for me.

I was very worried.

After a first opinion that included the possibility of never playing again (something I was not about to accept), I visited Dr. Dan for a second opinion on the recommendation of several volleyball players. I am so glad I did!

Dr. Dan's initial consult set me at ease. He listened intently - about my pain level and my history of lower back problems, but also about my lifestyle. This was important to me because I wanted straight answers about being able to play volleyball again (going from five times a week to nothing is quite a shock), my recovery time and eventually prevention. Dr. Dan explained why I was experiencing this pain and developed a treatment plan to rehabilitate my lower back, and strengthen my core - taking pressure off my disc. All of this on a timeline in sync with my hopes to play again later in the 2007 sand season and onto the fall when indoor volleyball started.

Dr. Dan has a great "bedside manner" and you can tell he is genuinely interested in each of his patients and their recovery. His positive attitude every single visit kept my spirits up and kept me motivated - which was especially helpful as I saw the summer sand season passing me by. In fact, the entire staff was great to see each and every time I visited. It's a comfortable, family-like environment.

For me, the aspect of Dr. Dan's approach to chiropractic that sets him apart from others I've seen is the involvement I had in my own recovery. In the past I would visit doctors, they would do some adjustments, place the cold electric pads on my back for 20 minutes and then I'd be out the door until the next visit. But Dr. Dan's combination of chiropractic and physical therapy made me a part of my own success - I felt involved and energized to train more once I recovered. He also educated me on the importance of core training to support my back. So, basically, he got me off my butt!

It?s been nearly one year since I met Dr. Dan and I am happy to report that I have not had an incident like I had before I met Dr. Bockmann. Once I was released for my initial back injury, I was able to compete in the final sand tournaments of the 2007 season, competed from September 2007 through June 2008 at indoor women?s and co-ed competitions (including bringing home the Silver Medal and an All Tournament honor in Co-Ed 6?s at the USAV Open Championships ? a competition that included 7 days of volleyball played on sport court over concrete!) and have been playing at least 4 times a week ? sand and indoor ? this summer. I visit Dr. Bockmann once a month for regular adjustments and he also quickly saw me when I had a mild sprain to my ankle two days before a tournament this summer.

I cannot recommend Dr. Dan enough, especially for athletes. He is the reason I was able to get back to the court only one month after my initial injury and have had such success with rehabilitation and prevention since!

I came to Dr. Bockman after I played "bumper cars" unintentionally. This accident was some years after a recent back surgery so I was concerned about the pain I was having and re-injury. But within no time my body responded to his care plan and attention.

What I've come to know about Dr. Bockman is he "practices what he preaches." To have a doctor who is physically active, in great shape and knows injury himself is someone who can do alot for you; because he's been there done that and understands the patients point of view. He then takes his innovative and unique skills and uses all his little tricks of the trade to heal and bring well being.

This is just a part of the GYNORMOUS reasons to seek competent and caring healing from Dr. Dan!!!!!

To have a doctor who is physically active, in great shape and knows injury himself is someone who can do alot for you; because he's been there done that and understands the patients point of view. He then takes his innovative and unique skills and uses all his little tricks of the trade to heal and bring well being.

This is just a part of the GYNORMOUS reasons to seek competent and caring healing from Dr. Dan!!!!!

My recovery time with Dr. Bockmann was twice as fast as my previous chiropractors. His emphasis on core training eliminated my pain and strengthened my body to prevent future relapses (very, very Important). You'll appreciate his dedication to your well-being from your very first visit (also very important). If you're looking to reduce your pain and get back to the activities you enjoy, Dr. Bockmann is the guy to call!

first started seeing Dr. Bockmann in 2004 for repeated back issues due to a leg length discrepancy. He has a genuine concern for his patients. He not only addressed my back alignment issues but developed a rehap plan to strengthen my weaker areas.

In 2005, I had a rather complicated leg lengthening procedure which grew my shorter left leg 1.5" to match my right leg with an illizarov halo. I was on crutches for almost 9 months and had to learn to walk again.

I was struggling with my PT through my ortho surgeon's office... that is when I went to visit Dr. Bockmann again. He immediately put me on an intensive strength training program. Over a few months, I was able to gain strength enough to begin walking. I have had 5 leg surgeries since 2005 with the last one in May 2009. Dr Bockmann has been my chiropractor and PT of choice to help me get back into an active lifestyle.

I had been experiencing excruciating neck and shoulder pain. I started to get very discouraged because the physical therapy I was going through at the time just wasn't helping (not with Dr. Bockmann.) I stopped going to that physical therapy office when I felt like they weren't communicating with me (or each other) very well. After several referrals to other physical therapists that didn't provide any relief, I was prepared to just give up.

So, one night at dinner, one of my best friends recommended his friend Dr. Bockmann of Austin Spine & Sport. As I said, I had pretty much just accepted that I was always going to have these problems with my shoulder. I begrudgingly agreed to talk to him and I was impressed immediately. I visited him for an initial consultation. I am SOOO glad that I did.

First, Dr. Bockmann is super friendly and doesn't have the megawatt ego that so many of the physicians I've visited before seem to have. He genuinely wants to help people get better and get back to the activities they enjoy.

Secondly, he listened carefully to all my symptoms and really thought about everything I had said. I appreciated that so much. I also appreciated that he gave me a list of possible ailments causing my pain. He didn't leave me in the dark about anything. Another thing I really loved is that the office is small and not chaotic. The ladies at the front desk are so sweet and helpful.

Anyway, as far as the treatment, I had my first adjustment on my spine which was AWE-SOME. Dr. Bockmann also prescribed a detailed physical therapy regimen that included some new exercises I hadn't tried before.

(Sidebar: I like doctors and other wellness folks who are obviously thirsty for new knowledge and are constantly trying to stay informed of the latest practices in their field. Dr. Bockmann is one of those folks.)

The physical therapist assisting him at the office was great. My pain began to stabilize. I had kind of a tough case, but Dr. Bockmann and his staff were there every step of the way to offer encouragement.

Today, I'm proud to say that I'm back to my active self, running regularly and practicing yoga and pilates.

Dr. Bockmann is a chiropractor, but he also brings a very strong background in physical therapy and sports medicine to the table. If you are having any problems with muscles or nerves, want to try a new physical therapist, or give chiropractics a try, I very highly recommend Dr. Bockmann!

When I first came to Dr. Bockmann, I had severe pain in my neck on the right side that shot all the way down into my arm. I couldn't turn my neck in the slightest bit. Dr. Dan was kind enough to see me on an emergency basis and started my healing process immediately.

After the first time that I saw him I had immediate relief from the pain and had more mobility in my neck. Each session I progressed with unbelievable speed & couldn't believe the relief that I had in my neck pain. After 4 sessions I have completely healed and am so thankful for Dr. Dan's help.

I was referred by a friend after I mentioned how bad my shoulder was hurting while playing volleyball. I thought she was crazy referring me to a chiropractor but I figured I'd give it a shot because it sounded better than surgery. Plus, for as long as I can remember, I'd had lower back pain so I thought maybe he could help with that. Well, let me say that I am a true believer in what Dr. Dan does. The first couple of weeks, I could still feel twinges in my shoulder during and after playing but as I continued my exercises and stretches, the pain completely diminished. To this day, I'm continuing to play volleyball 3-4 times a week and I've not had a single problem with my shoulder and I'm back to swinging at better than 100%. While I was so baffled by the fact that he'd fixed my shoulder, I had completely forgotten about my back until I realized that I hadn't had pain there for a while. I am thankful that I took my friend's advice and scheduled my first visit because the payoff as been incredible.

I walked into Austin Spine & Sport crouched over and tears rolling down my face from the pain in my lower back. After 10 minutes with Dr. Dan, I was out of pain and moving freely. The last time that I had this issue I was in bed for a week. In my circle of friends, he is now known as "The Saint". He has an incredible manner, amazing intelligence and a holistic and genuine desire to improve your physical being by 1. getting you out of pain 2. rehabilitating and then, most importantly 3. teaching you how to stay out of pain. He gave me amazing tools and exercises that have kept me out of his office since. I highly recommend Dr. Dan at Austin Spine & Sport.

When I first visited Dr. Bockmann, I was experiencing severe pain in my shoulder and neck. I was having trouble turning my head, and at one point I felt some tingling in my arm. My husband and a friend of mine are current patients of Dr. Bockmann's, so I thought I'd give it a go.

After my consultation and a few x-rays, Dr. Bockmann did some adjustments and suggested some physical therapy and homework.
I did have some anxiety about the adjustments. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about getting my neck cracked. It was surprising, but not painful at all. I actually kind of like it now.

My neck pain is now completely gone. I'm getting monthly adjustments and doing my "homework" to keep me pain-free.

I went to Austin Spine and Sport to get rehabilitation for foot surgery so I could get back to running, which is my way to deal with stress. I met with Dr. Bockmann who sized up my needs and put me on a rehabilitation plan. I was amazed at the personalized service I received and the attention to my progress EVERYONE at the clinic had. Dr. Bockmann met with me several times during my rehabilitation, which showed the PT practice's genuine interest in my recovery. It also gave me the confidence to work hard to get back to running. Dr. Bockmann and his colleagues (i.e., Robert) were the reasons for my quick return to the sport. Thanks, y'all!

I remember about three months ago having a lot of pain in my knee when I was running. It didn't matter if I ran a block or if I ran for miles. The pain was always there. I have been a runner for about five years and I had never experienced any pain from running before. I didn't understand after so many years of being an avid runner why my knee would just now start hurting. I mentioned this to my roommate and she told me that I should go and visit Dr. Bockmann. I went to a seminar on running and the knee that he provided at his office. This was a very helpful seminar that explained how the knee works and why it might get injured and the different injuries one might have from running. After I explained my situation to him about my own knee, Dr. Bockmann talked with me and made sure I understood why I had the pain I did. I ended up having runner's knee. He showed me many different exercises that I could do to heal my knee. I was also told that I would have to stop running and continue the exercises for about a month and a half. As I started doing the exercises, I could tell my knee was healing right away. I didn't have pain when I would sit for long periods of time anymore and doing exercises that hurt before no longer hurt. After about a month my knee was better. I took back to running slowly and would only do as much as Dr. Bockmann recommended. By the end of the next month I had no pain in my knee. I was so happy that I was able to enjoy running again. Dr. Bockmann has taken my running to the next level as well. I am a stronger runner and more educated about how to take care of my body. Every time I see Dr. Bockmann he asks if there is any pain while running and my response is always no. He really cares about his patients and takes the time to get to know them and their hobbies. That way he can help you recover at your own pace so you get back to what you really enjoy doing. I would recommend Dr. Bockmann to anyone who has any kind of pain. He is great at what he does and is a great person to get to know because he cares so much about getting people healthy again.
