As a labor and delivery nurse, I have been around the block with providers. In general, you do not expect much in the way of bedside manner with perinates: they're smart, they're busy, and they're not your primary provider anyway.

Darcy was amazing in my second (very high-risk) pregnancy. She is always overbooked, but I never felt rushed. She was very clear in what she could tell me for certain and what the odds were for everything else, and I left feeling my questions had been thoroughly answered.

Because of the UWMC's hypertension clinic, there are a lot of preliminaries to go through when you go in for an appointment (NST, cardiac-flow dopplers, etc.) and the nursing staff at MIC is great. The front desk -- not so much; sometimes confused, sometimes slow, but the back office is great.

Downsides: I always waited at least 30 minutes past my appointment time to begin my appointment. The exam rooms are cramped and dated (though the lobby is beautiful). My total appointment time was always at least 2 hours, which meant may husband could rarely come along.

Overall, Darcy is an amazing provider, and she also does some very interesting research in diabetes and preeclampsia. I would be hard-pressed to think of a perinate I would sooner recommend in Seattle.
