Stay away from this dentist and office staff, if you care about your teeth. I have visited many dentists and this has been the worst experience ever. The dentist does not greet you when he arrives into the room, he makes you feel like you are an inconvenience. The office staff are just as rude. They did several fillings, which all fell out:(. Will be looking to go to another dentist.

I visit Dr. Dan Davis Jr. at Smiles Etcetera and it was a wonderful experience he likes to joke and ease the tense to get your mind off having a dental procedure done. I had a root canal and it didn't even hurt afterwards, that was great!

We all know that having to go to the Dentist can be a terrifying experience because of the uncertainty of what they will find, charge, and how painful it will be. The only thing that can ease the experience is how you are treated as a patient by the office staff, dental techs, and the Dentist. I recently visited Smiles Etcetera for a toothache and Dr. Dan Davis, Jr. was my Dentist during the visit. The office staff shuffled me in and out of their office to complete paperwork and to make a payment prior to seeing the Dentist. The other staff members were whispering up front, talking about another patient's dental x-rays and how their teeth were "gone", talking on their cell phones, and overall seemed unhappy and unprofessional. Their process was unprofessional and uncomfortable. I was put in a room and not asked many questions about my toothache or what they were going to do. The tech just treated me like I go to the Dentist everyday and that I should know what to expect. She didn't tell me she was going to take an x ray, she just pulled a protective cover from behind the door, put it on me, and then brought out something to put in my mouth. The only instruction I received about what was happening was I needed to open my mouth wide. I didn't know she was taking an x-ray. She walked in and out a few more times but never let me know what was going on. A few minutes later Dr. Dan Davis walked into the room, said "Hey", and walked to the back of the room to get something. He came in and out of the room several times, ignoring me, talked to a few of his techs about another patient right in front of me like I wasn't in the room, and eventually he asked one of his techs what he was waiting on for me. He could have asked me why I was there, but instead he asked his tech why I was there and she told him in "dental language" which made me even more uncomfortable. He finally got my x-ray and held it up over my head in the light. He then took a deep breath, took his glasses off, put them back on, held the x-ray up again, asked a tech if she could see anything, took another deep breath, held it back up to the light, put it down, asked another tech what she saw on my x-ray (which she replied in dental language), he took another deep breath, and then he asked me what I saw because my eyes were probably good. ???????? At this point I had become so fearful of what was wrong due to his behavior. The final blow came when he told me I need a root canal. I asked him what exactly a root canal was and he didn't answer me. He looked at his tech and said, "Can you explain to her what a root canal is?", and then he walked out of the room. I think by this time, one of his techs could tell I was very uncomfortable and she became very nice and explained the root canal to me and gave me a pat on the back on the way out. They gave me a referral to a Dentist in another county for a root canal and sent me on my way. I was so upset when I left that I had to sit in the parking lot for about 10 min and cry and call my husband to release the tension. The purpose of this review is not for you to feel sorry for me; I didn't see any reviews on this Dentist and I want to help someone make a better choice when they are choosing a Dentist. I have a strong personally and can handle a lot. However, going to the Dentist is a fear for me and the treatment I received at Smiles Etcetera was appalling. I wondered if they treat everyone that way. I just thank God that this experience happened to me and not my daughter. I would never take a child to this Dentist due to their "bedside manner". I chose this clinic because of his big friendly ad in the phonebook that shows two young boys that look like his sons or family. He looked friendly and welcoming in the ad, but in person, he seemed disoriented, cold, confused, and uncaring. I just noticed something else that needs to be mentioned. During my visit with Dr. Dan Davis, he told me I needed a root canal but that he didn't do them at his office. However, the ad in the Robeson County phonebook and his website states that they offer ONE-VISIT ROOT CANALS (info was still posted on website as of writing of this comment). ????? This is the info (copy and pasted to here) from his website about root canals as of this posting: Endodontics-Endodontics (root canal therapy) is the treatment of teeth with diseased pulp tissue. We provide one-visit root canals.
