a few days ago when I took my 13 year old son to see Dr. Blackstock. My son received a voucher from school to get some glasses, since his frames he got from Dr. Blackstock last year weakened at the arm and top of frame front. Not anyone's fault, but they finally broke and needed new ones. So, I took my son looking a few places and decided that we would look again at his office. My son picked out a pair that he really liked and we made an eye exam appointment the very next day. After he had his exam and we were looking at those special glasses he wanted badly. The staff brings out a few boxes of frames that were not attractive in the least. My son was not impressed, so we took the prescription and went back to the first place we looked Lord Eye Center and they had no problems with us picking from the huge selection of name brand frames they had. Only problem was when Lord's called the company that issues the vouchers, we were told that the glasses had to be purchased at the same place the exam was given. We were out of luck, at that point. So, I purchased some glasses for him, and took his broken glasses to King's jeweler's to see if they could repair them as the staff at Lord's recommended. They are repaired and he has a 2nd pair for play. Dr. Blackstock told me previously in his office that they could not be repaired, although his website claims they can repair broken frames. I am glad there are such things in life as 2nd opinions.
