I have been going to Dr. Decotiis for the past two years and never had an issue. Yes, the wait can be a little long sometimes, but in my experience that happens with all doctors. One great about her office is that they are always willing

I'm a cancer survivor and can honestly say here that Dr. Decottiis is one of the best doctors I have ever known. I've dealt with MANY Manhattan doctors due to cancer, and have lived in NYC for 16 years. I'm fully aware of common practices

I saw Dr. Decotiis about six years ago and my experience was okay, I did not come in with any issues and I just needed some vaccinations becuase I was going abroad. I switched insurances and switched doctors but once again my insurance

I was forced to see Dr. Decotiis 3 years ago when my PCP stopped taking my insurance, which was sort of fine, as I was given notice. I chose this dingbat because of where she's located and went in with moderate expectations. I was pleased with the minimal wait time and how the staff was "ok". Afterall, I'm seeing the doctor, not the staff. Then, when I was taken in, all my fears were acknowledged. Dr. Decotiis did not look me in the eye, when I expressed concern over my leg itching, she told me to use lotion (now why didn't I think of that one...oh wait, I did!) then said she'd give me a dermatologist (even though she is one) so she basically outsources and when I mentioned I had problems sleeping, she basically said, "sorry".

The follow up was even more atrocious! The staff was downright rude, almost refused to give me a referral to an eye doctor of my choosing and Dr. Decotiis berated me to the point where I almost walked out. I wish I had.

Went back 2 years later, the Indian woman (who I'm convinced is the only one with a brain in the office) was nice and hallejuah! Dr. Decotiis looked me in the eye! That stick up her ass had obviously been removed and all the subsequent follow ups were productive.

Then it went downhill. I have an infection on my foot and after 5 minutes of being placed on hold, was told Dr. Decotiis no longer accepts my insurance and therefore they could not give me a referral. No calls, nothing. I found another PCP (who showed me what medicine is and addressed every concern) and requested Decotiis fax my records. I was told, in a very cold and rude manner, a release needs to be signed (not news to me) and it would take 3-4 weeks with a "fee". When I asked how much, I was told there's a price PER page and therefore they could not give me a cost. Ok, I accept that. Then when I said I would come over so they would not have to fax the chart and I wouldn't have to pay a fee, I was told, "it still takes 3-4 weeks".

ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? I copy 400 pages in 20 MINUTES!!!!! This is not rocket science and an insult to medicine. Decotiis needs to be shut down and her staff needs to go back to secretary school!

Final rundown: Dr. Decotiis has an eye contact problem, cannot keep her appointments on time, berates the patients, which is like the pot calling the kettle black, the staff is rude (except for the Indian woman) and while you're at it, bring your own toilet paper. Whenever I'm there, they seem to be out of it.

If you MUST see someone MAYBE take your chances with this nutcase, but if you have medical ailments and you have been treated for that problem in the past, do NOT go to Dr. Decotiis, she takes offense when someone knows something she doesn't and basically ignores you. I'm not sure why she hasn't been shut down yet. We all have our bad days and I have my share, but this is ridiculous.

I have been seeing this doctor for 2 years because she is near my office and I didn't have time to find another. 3 women in our office have dropped her and finally I have as well. The staff is BEYOND rude. I have yet to wait less than 20 minutes after my scheduled appt time and my appts have yet to last longer than 5 minutes. She rushes rushes and barely listens. Last year, my strep was undiagnosed by her and I needed to go to the walk in clinic while traveling because after my 40 min wait to see her, she gave me Advil.... She also referred me to a gynocologist who is a friend of hers which I later found out didn't even have a license! Stay away. There are better doctors here who care more about their patients and who will honor your appt time.

Pros: Near Subway, takes most insurance

Cons: Consistently 45-60 mins late, rushes appt., BAD referalls!

I would give this doctor zero stars if I could. Her staff is unprofessional and offensive. I have been to see Dr Decotiis several times and every encounter with the front office is worse and worse.

For example, the office recently called me ONE hour before a scheduled appointment that I had cancelled a WEEK in advance. I have the phone records to prove it! Her response was that she had no record of the call or my cancellation and would thus charge me a $50 fee. Her tone implied she did not beleive I cancelled and then she blatantly lied by saying that the office also called me the day before at the same number to confirm my appointment. I received no call, no voicemail and have the phone records to prove this too.

I will never go back to see her and would not recommend her to anyone. The doctor's location is convenient but frankly I have not been impressed with her as a doctor either. She doesn't seem to listen when you speak, and her solution to what I have since verified with other doctors as a bacterial infection was to throw me into a bunch of unhelpful and expensive tests.

She is certainly not worth putting up with the horrible front office experience. Save yourself the pain and go to someone else. There are too many good doctors in this city with friendly staff to waste your time with such a bad experience.

This Doctor is the best that I've seen in NYC. I've been her patient for 3 years now and never had a problem with the doctor or the staff. The doctor always spend the right amount of time with me, addresses my concerns and it's always on point with all my health issues.

I've never had a Physical Exam like the one that I had at this office. The doctor asked questions about my family history that reminded me of what medicine used to be like.

I usually wait until the last minute to go to the doctor. Last week I call at 4.45pm in the afternoon and even though I was calling at the last minute and at the end of the day, I was put in to see the doctor at 5.30pm the same day. Isn't that incredible? I was never able to do that before, my last internist waited a whole week to give an appointment even though I was in pain.

I've only good things to say about Dr Decotiis and her office staff. I couldn??t recommend her any higher.

Pros: Location, service, availability.............................

Cons: none

Went to visit Dr. Decotiis (3rd or 4th visit) with an enflammed lymph node and unbearable chest and head pain. Showed up only to find out that the incompetent staff had not switched over my insurance information after I switched jobs and providers earlier this year. The extremely rude and downright sadistic office manager (small indian woman... not sure of the name) refused to admit me despite my condition, unless I paid the money upfront. I normally would not have an issue, except for the fact that I gave them all the information last time I saw them!!!!

The woman would not let me speak to Dr. Decotiis or any other higher management supervisor (doubt one even exists in the cramped, outdated office) and asked me to leave (yes, like that).

DO NOT go to this doctor - there are plenty others in the city who have control over their staff and are more than eager to have your business. I will not go back.

Pros: Decent enough Doctor

Cons: Staff are the absolute worst

Dr Decotiis have been my Internist for many years. She is an excellent physician. She is always available when I am sick even if I call late in the day I always get an appointment for the same day. The staff is helpful and professional. I couldn't recommended her any higher.

After a 3rd visit with Dr. Decotiis, I am resolved to switch to another doctor. She only addresses whatever she deems important and completely disregards your opinion and what you would like to focus on. I'm convinced she picks a symptom that is easiest to treat and ignores everything else. Also, when I brought records in from a previous and trusted doctor (in another country), she proceeded to insult the lab results and doctor's opinion, saying that they must have made a mistake. She seems to be quite biased against anyone that isn't herself.

Pros: location (close to my work)

Cons: long wait, didn't address concerns

Not only do I agree that the staff and doctor are quick, not attentive, rude, and not thorough, I also had a few experiences that border on patient endangerment.

They sent me home w/ a kidney infection, without a diagnosis, and I ended up in the ER hours later, admitted immediately because my fever was so high.

Her office is in a convenient location, but there is no point in going to a doctor who does treat patience or practice with care.

I never post reviews online, but I feel incredibly strongly that no one should see this doctor.

I have seen Dr Decotiis on several occasions in the course of the la.st year and have finally reached the end of my patience with her staff. I have never come across office staff who are so consistently rude and unhelpful.

Dr Decotiis is herself fairly OK, as other reviewers indicate she is usually rushed, doesn't seem that keen on spending the time to find out what the problem is and generally reaches for the prescription pad (antibiotics are a favorite recourse) before fully diagnosing the problem.

It is her reception staff however that really take the cake, they are pretty much universally rude and unhelpful in a way I have never experienced before. I wonder sometimes how aware she is of this (though if you ask to speak with her to complain about this the staff refuse to put you through with the explanation that "Dr Decotiis doesn't speak to patients" which may hint at a deeper problem).

My recommendation would be that if you are reading this to try and decide whether to see Dr Decotiis DON'T DO IT, go see another Dr who has enough respect for their patients to employ decent staff.

I came in with a relatively minor ailment, but that required some attention. After partially having dealt with the issue, Dr. Decotiis said that she didn't have time to finish because she had other patients to see and that I should come back another time. Frankly, I found this rather appalling. From my admittedly limited experience, she seemed very rushed and doesn't seem to care about patients. Also, while my shirt was off, one of the assistants left the door to the exam room wide open. I would definitely avoid this office and doctor.

My experience with Dr Decotiis was very positive. I was referred by the company nurse and on more than several occasions the staff squeezed me in at the last minute. The doctor was friendly and straight foward. The office is clean and extremely well located. When Dr Decotiis is not in, another extremely professional M.D. substitutes for her. I would highly recommend this practice.

I have been a patient of Dr. S. DeCotiis for some time now. Mostly, because it is always relatively easy for me to get an appointment.

However, when I have to interact with her front desk person and the physician assistant who takes bloodpressure, bloodtests, etc. I literally cringe. The two young women, in their mid-20s at most, are downright rude, with razor sharp attitude. You can't ask a question without them responding as though you have just aggravated them to the highest degree. Since they spend more time with me on my visit than the doctor sometimes does, it really makes me wonder why I visit the office with my health concerns. After all, when a person is unwell, that is not the time to have to deal with other people's attitude issues. Well, let's face it, it is a displeasure to deal with attitude regardless of the situation.

Dr. DeCotiis herself is an okay doctor. She seems knowledgeable enough and has handled my relatively minor medical issues with ease. She does seem to speak very quickly which gives one the impression that she is rushed and eager to leave the examination room, though.

There are really only two positives to using Dr. DeCotiis as your physician. One is that her schedule allows for a relatively easily scheduled appointment and the other is a very pleasant, skilled and professional member of her staff, Marianella. But it is not often that you can interact with Marianella these days as she is apparently occupied with other duties that limit her interaction with patients.

I only recently switched to Dr. Decotiis (a friend recommended her) and I am very pleased. She's smart, attentive, on-time, knowlegeable and her office has a relaxed vibe. So far, I feel the quality of care is excellent. I've also been able to get in same-day due to an emergency. The only con has been that she doesn't mail annual test results; I had to make an appt. to retrieve them.
