I am a former resident of Norfolk and Dr. Trapani has been our vet since about 1993. Over the years, she has provided excellent care for our three dogs and for our littler of 8 Soft Coated Wheatens, our birds, pet rats, and our two cats. As a healthcare provider for humans, I am so pleased with Dr. Trapani's expertise and her compassionate, profession care that I still drive an hour to have her tend to the needs of our pets. Dr. Trapani also donates her time to pet rescue caravans, her home to fostering pets waiting for adoption as to homeless animals recovering from illness or injury that she has treated without any source of being repaid. Dr. Tapani is an amazing and caring human being and an excellent practitioner.

If they had ZERO for a rating that is exactly what I would give Dr. Trampani and her knowlege and service for my dog. The staff is pleasant, which is the only positive thing I can say about this Vet office. Dr. Trampani is pompous, uncaring, unattentive and unavailable to her patients/pets needs. My dog had a raging ear infection that was misdiagnosed. After paying an OUTRAGEOUS office fee, the misdiagnosis bloomed into an emergency requiring immediate attention. Where was Dr. Trampani? Unavailable to help my dog. And now my dog is requiring sedation, and debridement of an ear infection-thanks to Dr. Trampani's misdiagnosis and gross mistake-not to mention another Vet bill of $350!! Angry? You bet I am angry-do yourself a favor and find another Vet, any Vet is bound to be better than this one, trust me!!

Business Response:

We are very sorry to hear you were unhappy with the care and service you received from the Animal Health Center. We would however, like to respond to your accusations. According to our records, on January 26, we diagnosed your dog with an ear infection and dispensed medication for you to apply. At that time we suggested a recheck appt in 2 weeks. On Feb 3 AND Feb 7, we left you a message asking how she was doing and requested you schedule a recheck. No return call was received until February 15 when you called the office to say that the groomer believed she had an ear infection. At that time, you advised our staff that because she is difficult to handle, you had had trouble applying the medicine as instructed and she had only received a few treatments. Because your schedule didnā??t coincide with our appointments that day, we scheduled you to drop off your dog the next day for sedation and treatment. You chose to take her to an emergency center that evening instead. We subsequently left 2 more messages for you to see how she was doing.

My dog is 14 years old, has been a client there his whole life...until now. Called to get an appointment to get him seen and they were not able to see him at all, told me to go to an emergency center after hours...after 14 years. Now, obviously went and found a (great) new vet and when I tried to get copies of my records, they charged me!! Really...what else can I say.
If you're looking for this kind of treatment, then this is the vet for you, if not, look elsewhere.

I recently took my sick leopard gecko to the Animal Health Center to see the herp vet after finding the office on the internet, calling the office, and finding out they treated reptiles (semi scarce in this area). During the visit, I had the feeling that the vet didn't know a lot about leopard geckos, which is surprising for a herp vet since leopard geckos are one of the most common reptiles in American households. Although she spoke as if she had an idea about gecko problems, upon taking my gecko to another vet, a herp vet, I found out she prescribed unnecessary medication that just prolonged my pet's agony - I think she really knew very little about geckos.

I'm also thinking the vet probably doesn't specialize in reptiles. I wish the office would have been up front with me on that when I called. I would not suggest this vet for reptiles.

When we thought the end was near for our OES - just by whim we took her to get groomed next door to Animal Health Center and Caryn had Dr. Trapani take a peak at our OES before she groomed her. Dr. Trapani not being our Vet looked our OES all over and told us what could be wrong. After that initial short meeting We decided we would switch VETS and make it our OES's New Home Away From Home - I am forever greatful to Dr. Trapani in diagosing and taking the time with our OES - she is now a NEW DOG who has a new lease on life and a better attitude when going to the VETS. Thank You Dr. Trapani and Maggie thanks you too..

I had an emergency situation with a dog I had rescued from a shelter. Dr. Trapani really helped me out and the entire staff is very caring. I am planning on bringing all my animals there from now on.

Denise Trapani is the owner and main vet at this practivce. They special in cats and dogs and other small animals. Though birds can be best taken care of at Windhover a little further down the road.

Denise helps place animals from shelters. We made a home for a few dogs she rescued

She is very experienced and friendly. All the staff at Animal Health Center are great.
