My entire family goes to Dr. Raitt, including the kids (ages 8 & 11). He does excellent work. I've had two crowns done there, both look like the originals and are color-matched very well. I've also had him replace all of my old silver fillings with composit fillings and they look great. He is also perfectly comfortable referring you to a specialist if you need something beyond general dentistry (like endo or perio work).

We switched to his practice after we began to question the integrity of another dentist in town, and Dr. Raitt diplomatically confirmed what we suspected all along -- that the other dentist was telling us that we (both my wife & I) needed thousands of dollars in dental work was not really needed (and we didn't "lead" him to that conclusion). Dr. Raitt is not a "discount dentist" by any means... if you need dental work, he'll tell you so in his plain-spoken, 'matter-of-fact manner. You're likely to hear something like, "You need to be careful with this tooth, because if you chew ice or bite on something really hard, it could crack. If it does crack, we'll need to do a crown on it, so remember to treat that tooth with extra care."

His staff (led by his wife -- Janine) handles the insurance and billing aspect of things very well.

Another cool thing about his office is that his staff remember who you are and what you've talked about in the past. I have a brother who also goes to Dr. Raitt (though not regularly), and Dr. Raitt or his staff will often asked me how he's doing and recall something about him that let's me know that they do -- in fact, know him. I guess it like the "Cheers" TV show... where everyone knows your name.

The artist thing -- Dr. Raitt is a sculptor. He has done some busts of civil war soldiers, FSU Coach Bobby Bowden, Indians and such. He has some of his work (cast in bronze) on display in his office.

PROS: top quality artistry in his dental work, appointments run right on time
CONS: nothing special about his office... clearly, a guy decorated it
