Unfortunately, the receptionists are consistently clueless as to what happens there. For example, the doctor told me to schedule a time to have blood drawn for various tests. The receptionist asked me if any of the tests needed to be done while fasting. That's odd.

But, I knew that cholesterol tests require a fast, so I said that. She then asked, "Do you have a history of cholesterol?" That's an exact quote, and it doesn't make any sense, so I had to clarify, "Are you asking if I have historically had my cholesterol tested, or if I have a history of HIGH cholesterol?" I thought she was asking the former, because the latter seemed to me to be a doctor-patient question, and surely the receptionist wasn't going to tell me whether or not SHE recommended a cholesterol test. But, in fact she was asking if I had a history of HIGH cholesterol and got rather short with me for asking her to clarify what she was asking.

I needed a follow-up test 2 months later, and got the same type of thing when I called to ask if I needed an appointment for the blood draw. "Do you need to be fasting?" "I don't know, if I were a doctor, I probably wouldn't be your patient..."

I don't entirely blame the receptionists for their lack of training, but if I were in their shoes, I would get tired of being clueless, and ask the docs for a list of tests that require fasting so that I could TELL the patient what was required instead of ASKING the patient what was required.

As it stands, I don't like dealing with the receptionists, which makes me less likely to see the doctor, which is not a good thing.

I really like Dr. Draeb! I have been looking for a good doctor since I moved to Colorado three years ago and finally found Dr. Draeb about a year ago, thanks to a couple of friends who highly recommended her. She takes time to talk to me at each appointment, rather than rushing in and out like most doctors. She really tries to understand my needs instead of just writing a prescription and sending me on my way. I definitely recommend her!
