.

My son, at 9 months old (11 weeks early preemie mind you), had pain in his right knee. Went to see Dr Serino for it and he just ordered an Xray stat. We went to get the Xray and the techs there were acting like I hurt my child and questioning me why his knee was swollen. I said that it's been like that for a couple of days and have no idea what is wrong. The Dr never called us back that day for the results, I had to contact him and ask what the results were. He stated "it's what I thought it was, water on the knee". Now seriously, a 9 month old who just started turning over onto his tummy great has water on the knee? I don't think so! He then asked when do we take him to see his ortho ped dr and I stated maybe in 3 weeks. He then said to "ice it" until then. Well needless to say, it got worse! we waited til the following Mon and took him to PCH in AZ. It turned out to be be staph in his right knee or Osteomyelitis and had to be drained 3 times in his 8 day IP hospital stay! The infectious disease dr's stated that it went into his blood stream and bone and could have killed him! I was sooo very displeased with how Dr Serino passed this off as "water on the knee" when it turned out to be a life threatening situation! Thank goodness his Orthopedic Dr Shindell was in PCH that night and took on my son's care! We owe the world to saving him to Dr Shindell and are very ashamed of Dr Serino.
