.

On June 2nd 2010 I saw Dr Diana Farid for headaches. I chose this provider because she did not have any negative (or positive reviews) on yelp. However, I will now only go to providers with positive reviews. Dr Farid provided a very negative experience.

Shelly (office receptionist) insisted on calling me my first name, not my middle name??the name I typically go by and prefer, despite requesting she call me by my middle name. I was very prepared for my appt. Arrived 15 minutes early. Had to wait 30 minutes in waiting room. Furthermore, HIPPA was violated in the waiting room when Shelly had myself and another elderly woman answering questions and completing forms at her receptionist check-in station simultaneously.

Once in the exam room, I again waited for Dr Farid. I was surprised to see Dr. Farid NOT wash her hands at any point during the visit. After exchanging hand shakes, I explained I was there for a non-narcotic refill of medication for headaches??very straightforward. She failed to ask me a single question about my headaches (duration, onset, severity, etc).

Instead, she told me that the information I was told prior to my appt (from her nurse) regarding the billing of this appt was incorrect, and that I was actually going to be charged differently than what my insurance company had previously agreed upon. This surprised and frustrated me. When I expressed my frustration regarding the inaccurate information her staff provided and the out-of-pocket expenses that I might incur as a result, she accused me of being suicidal. I was dumbfounded and sat there speechless. Then she said she felt threatened by me??I??m a 100 lb soaking wet! Furthermore, I had not moved from the exam table or said a word.

As she left the exam room she said if I wanted the medication, I would need to have labs drawn. I went to check out and pay my bill. I asked Shelly where the lab was and how much it would cost. She did not know but promised that she would have someone call me. Fine I said. I waited a week. Nobody called. I called back. Nothing. Two days later I called again. Nothing. Two days later I called again. Nothing. Two days later. I called again. Nothing. After 2 weeks and 5 calls Shelly finally called me back and told me I was not welcome as a patient, nor would I be getting the medication. But, yes, you will be getting a BIG BILL compliments of Dr. Diana Farid and the Menlo Medical Clinic.

What a headache! Oh wait, that is why I went in the first place?
