As a teacher of young children, I was shocked to see Dr. Kohn's interaction and or lack of interaction with my child. I'm sure he does nice dentistry work, but I unfortunately I failed to see the kindness and patience so needed to work with small children. In my mind, a pediatric dentist needs to be special and understand the unique needs of young children.
The front desk was nice, but that was my only positive.

Well, I guess they can get one star for not beating us over the head with clubs, but that's about the best thing I can say about our experience there. This is the worst pediatric dentist I've ever seen. I'm terrified that Dr Kohn is teaching others how to care for children. I hope that no parent ever leaves their children alone in these people's care. After lengthy discussion with the office over the phone about my son's special needs, I felt reassured that we would be treated with respect, but the appointment couldn't have been further from it. They had even sent a nice booklet for us to read with our son all about the process. So I was going in there with a great first impression. But instead the hygenist talked down to me from the start of the appointment. She was completely rude and unprofessional. And when I asked that Dr. Kohn time things so that my son wouldn't have time to get too afraid, I was ignored. Worst of all, when his royal highness was ready to clean my son's teeth (not just check them or even just interact with the child, as a first step of desensitization *should* be), he became impatient that we were unwilling to hold down and completely restrain our now-screaming, panicked child. It seems that their idea of desensitization process means to terrify the child and further traumatize him, unlike what I had been told over the phone when making the appointment. My husband and I just walked out of the appointment with our very unnerved son. I felt like we were set back months or years in his oral issues. The very next day I got a receipt in the mail that they had illegally billed our credit card for the visit - not sending a bill to us or to our insurance company. In their paperwork they request card info in case an account gets more than 60 days overdue, but it's a trick apparently. They must have known that we were sure to dispute, given the fact that there was no exchange of service - only attempted torture and definitive rudeness on their parts. That's the only reason I can imagine they billed the card immediately. I have nothing kind to say about our interaction with this office. And I've since heard of 3 other mothers who have had to walk out of there as well. I wish I had had someone to warn me. Thank God I found Dr Muller. He is a wonderful dentist who has gotten my son over this terrible experience.
