.

My wife was positively tested with Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) in her homeland country (Belarus). Her physician prescribed a number of medications and procedures to treat it and requested the check-up once the treatment was finished. She came to California and she did not speak English well in order to describe all procedures, diagnoses and medications that were used during her treatment. That is why I was trying to find a Russian-speaking gynecologist in the SF bay area.

We found Dr. Kaplan at our health insurance's web site (United Health Care, www.myuhc.com) and called his office on Sep 29th in order to describe the problem and make an appointment. The receptionist scheduled the appointment on the 22nd of October (in three weeks).

I took a day off on Oct 22nd and we drove all the way from San Jose to Walnut Creek only to receive a call, twenty minutes before the actual appointment, saying that Dr. Kaplan had not been able to meet with us that day due to the emergency in hospital.

We asked the receptionist to re-schedule the appointment, and she said that we had to wait for three weeks more (!). I asked the receptionist whether it was possible to make it sooner, since we had already waited for three weeks and my wife was really concerned about her physical condition, but the receptionist denied treating us with any priority.

We waited for additional three weeks and came to Dr. Kaplan's office on Nov 10th at 2.30 PM. We had to wait for almost three hours while Dr. Kaplan was working with other patients. Finally, Dr. Kaplan met with us at 5.30 PM and has checked my wife. He took the test for the HPV (Human Papiloma Virus) and asked to wait for a week in order to get the results.

We called Dr. Kaplan's office after a week, on Nov 18th, but the receptionist was not able to find the results and asked to call on Monday. We called again on Monday and the receptionist told us that she had not been able to find the results and that results had been taken away by the nurse (!?) who took a vacation so we had to wait for one more week.

I told the receptionist that their level of service was not appropriate, unprofessional and substandard and notified that I was going to write a complaint to Better Business Bureau and Medical Board in case I won't receive the results sooner.

The receptionist did not want to talk to me, hung up on me several times and discriminated my wife by saying that we had to contact "immigration office" instead since my wife was in immigration.

I find THIS level of service extremely rude, unethical, not professional and significantly substandard and I still do not know how to get the results, because I do not really understand why the nurse took the result with her for a vacation, whether results were lost or not and how to contact their office since the receptionist does not want to speak with us.
